“Lovely place but a bit far from anything”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2014 via mobile

This resort is lovely and the rooms and bathrooms are modern. It is quite nice for the price. The staff were lovely and very accommodating with regards to any needs and queries we had. The only thing is it is a bit far from the main spots on koh Samui and there is nothing interesting around the resort or good places to eat so most of the time will be spent away from it. We rented a scooter quite cheaply and used that to get around the island, but local taxi's to and from town would add up unless you were in by group. The breakfast was not that great I think a wider selection of foods and some local options would make a big difference .The beds are comfortable and the place is quiet so that is a benefit.

The standout about Panalee is the helpful staff.
On the first night we stayed in a standard bungalow and realised the hot water did not work. The next day we told the staff, try checked it out and had us move to the apartments. The apartments are much more modern and the shower was amazing.
The staff always helped us with questions and gave us many recommendations. I didn't catch his name but an older man who always seems to be working was a great helpful guy.
Breakfast was great and always felt well fed.
It is far from popular chaweng beach but this didn't bother us at all we wanted peace and quiet. And with a small quiet beach just across the road and amazing quaint restaurants right on the beach just a three minute walk - this place was just a tranquil relaxin place.
The pools are much smaller than the photos make seem though. But no problem at all.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating ; they tried their best to attend to our requests. We were a bit surprised and just smiled about it when they told us they like us because we are very nice and we don't have too many demands and complaints.

We had a deluxe villa which although clean and quite spacious has some disappointments: the bed and pillows were a bit hard; the curtains and door blinds are not wide enough to block out the outside lights at night and the aircon's blinking tiny bulb illuminates the whole room when we turn off the lights at night. There was also inadequate noise insulation--we could hear the voices of the guests next door as well as the (zooming) vehicles across the road. It was difficult to sleep on some nights. When we requested that we move to one of the apartment rooms (as the resort was still practically empty despite it being the peak season already), we were dismayed to find the shower takes about 2 minutes to get warm. And it last only for a minute before it gets cold again.

The breakfast needs a lot of improvement. The fruit juice was synthetic and the coffee was instant. Even when they had a buffet (when there were many guests), there weren't much options. Just basically the same sausage-ham-egg, everyday. We were quite amused and appreciative though, when they gave us (me and boyfriend) on some days "special" pastries perhaps for being long-staying guests.

The beach across the road wasn't really fit for swimming--it was quite rocky on the bottom and was littered with seaweeds. It's more of a fishing than a swimming area. It was not a big deal though. We rented a scooter and drove to the nearby Mae Nam, Bhoput and all the way to Chaweng and Lamai beaches. We also drove around the island and found interesting beaches on the west coast. Renting a scooter is a good way to explore the island.

The NYE gala was a little sad as there were only 6 of us guests who stayed at the hotel for the celebration. Yet, the staff did their best to entertain us and make it a pleasant evening.

Overall, we liked the tranquility of the Bang Po area. It's definitely a recommended place if you want to stay away from the craziness of Chaweng or Lamai. There are also 3 good restaurants just across the resort: Mickey Mickey, Kitchen Pha, and Krua Bang Po restaurants.

Room Tip: Perhaps the villas on the further back of the resort are more quiet as they are relatively far from...

I stayed here with my Husband in a poolside bungalow. The bungalow was spacious & clean with a good sized balcony and nice view. The area around the resort is quiet which is what we wanted. The beach is a 2 minute walk across the road and there are lots of great seafood restaurants near by. The 2 pools are a great feature and the staff were really accommodating. We hired mopeds and also used the local bus/taxi service into nearby Mae Nam and also Chaweng. I would definitely stay here again.

Very quiet stay for us with three kids. Stayed in a good sized 2 bedroom bungalow amongst the garden setting. Great staff, good breakfast, generous pool though heavy on the chlorine and whilst there's a beach across the road, it is not ideal for swimming. Ideal place for a quiet stay!

We were very lucky to choose this hotel, because the correlation between price and what you get for it is just amazing!
The hotel is quiet, green, beautiful. It looks like a real paradise in jungle.
It's situated near the road (nevertheless it's VERY quite here). To get to the beach you need only to cross the road. The beach is completely empty, only you and the sea. But at the end of december there were some people who came to spend Christmas here.
The shop and pharmacy are also not far away (5 minutes walk), there are a lot of small cafes nearby, they are much cheaper than similar places in Bo Phut and Choeng. But you should be ready that they are as all asian cafes not very clean.
I liked the hotel very much. We were there with my husband and we found the place romantic and peaceful.
Of course the hotel is quite far away from the island's center, so you should definitely rent a bike. But there are a lot of advantages - it's calm here, it's clean, there are less tourists here and you can feel what real island's life is.
The stuff is VERY good! They told us everything about the island! When my husband was ill they helped to get the medicine.
Thank you very much for your hospitality!!!

Had 1 night here as we were struggling to find accommodation closer to new year. Got into the room to find most of the electricity was out. Wifi didn't work in the room at all. Computers at reception also didn't work. Not that big a deal but our families were waiting to hear we were safe. Not the best resolution for the electricity. We just had to go to bed as we couldn't see. Pool was ok. Nothing special. Not a great location. I personally think there are much nicer places and hotels to stay in at Koh Samui. Food wasn't great for breakfast either unfortunately. Fireworks were going off all night very close by which made it extremely difficult to sleep.

Room Tip: All rooms would be noisy I assume. Maybe better off in the building up the back left. Our room was n...
