This review is quite delayed, but Ruen Come In is so fantastic I figured better late than never! We stayed here in November 2012. My husband was really disliking Thailand because we spent too long in Bangkok, which is a very large, not very nice city. Chiang Mai redeemed our entire opinion of Thailand. It is such a special, lovely town with such friendly people. Really couldn't be more different from Bangkok. Add to that the oasis that is Ruen Come In and we were delighted. We ate several meals here because the cooking is just so good! The cooking class is a must do - particularly the tour of the market, which gave us insight into the food and the culture. The tours that were arranged for us into the mountains were also wonderful - I highly recommend them! And then the actual hotel - our room was like a dream, the pool was divine, and the house itself was fascinating. And yes, it is a bit out of town, but don't let that put you off. We cycled around (and got lost) but taxis are plentiful and cheap. Just make sure you have the address and their phone number - the taxis we took called the hotel for directions. If ever we're back in Chiang Mai, we'll head straight to Ruen Come In!
