Oriental Siam Resort

The resort, staff, accomodations, staff, food and facilities are all top notch. It is a small resort with lovely grounds and peaceful surroundings. It is a little distance from the center of the city but the resort will provide a driver, cell phone for any type of excursion you want to take at very reasonable rates. They could not have been more accomodating and were at all times friendly, helpful and attentive to any needs.
The staff is so friendly before the end of the week we felt like we were staying with family.

Every moment of my stay at this beautiufl resort boutique hotel was wondeful. From the inviting and extremely accomodating staff to the clealiness of the entire resort - it was an experience to rememeber. The charming and spacious rooms were extremely clean and room service maintained that level of quality throughout my entire stay. Our meals were beautifully prepared each day and the food was gourmet quality. I particularly enjoyed the swimming pool and sun deck area as a great place to relax and it felt as if we had the entire resort to ourselves due to the individual cottages that make up the roomssat the resort. I could not recommend a hotel more enthusiastically than I could for the Oriental Siam and for the quality of the owners Pongsri, Peter and Nat for their kind hospitality.

We spent 1 week in this hotel and it was amazing :
- the owners were very helpful and friendly and they did anything to make our kids and ourselves happy (small presents for kids, very arranging with us...)
- the resort is very quiet. the room are small houses in a kind of mini jungle, with a swimming pool in the middle.
- Even if it is out of the center of the city the owners always arrange a car to go there (or you can easily find a tuk-tuk). It takes about 15 minutes to get there.
- Everyone was very nice with us and gave us a lot of advice for day tours or to get a car + driver for the day.
- The food was excellent

Usually we are quite difficult to satisfy but this time we are all seduced! You really feel at home in there!!

The Oriental Siam is absolutely beautiful and extremely detail oriented. Pongsi, the manager, is so helpful with everything and so genuine. She grew up in the neighbourhing village and is an aspiring entrepreneur having held several jobs in amsterdam and locally. she is also quite the photographer. her husband, pat and their two dogs, are the onsite gardeners and it's easy to tell they all run the place much like a labor of love rather than a business. Breakfast was delish, the staff was helpful in every way imaginable, they recommended the best vegetarian friendly restaurant (whole earth) ive ever eaten at, the rooms were brilliantly designed with separate dressing areas, outdoor balconies and private garden showers. the only semi-negative was maybe the shallow pool and they are about 10-15 min outside of town, but that was actually fine for us. on my last day, Pongsi also came shopping w me, offfered the help of her tailor and kindly assisted us in making and canceling reservation elsewhere in town. furthermore, the library internet was v useful and they gave us a cell phone to use locally - that's a small gesture that goes a looong way in terms of convenience and making you feel at home. I miss you Pongsi - thank you again for EVERYTHING. I hope to come back again some day soon. you made our stay in chiang mai so very very memorable and my favorite place ever! if you are ever in nyc, please get in touch and come stay with me - Jigna

My partner and I travelled throughout SE Asia in Aug last year and have not reviewed any of the hotels (even though we used trip advisor to plan our trip). But after seeing this hotel slipping down to number 10 I was impelled to review it.

It was an amazing experience, it is run by a family who are really genuine and it seems to be their secret mission to delight and surprise their guests.

They give you a mobile phone when you go out at night, they leave little treats out for you when you arrive back at your room, if you are out in the evening they set your room up for over night (closing the curtains and getting the bed comfy), they threw rose petals over our bed one night and another night we come back to find they had fixed all of the things we prepared at cooking school that day into a wonderful banquet for our dinner, (at first we were a bit confused when they seemed disappointed when we said we might go out for the night at dinner time!)

Even in the middle of the night when you are arriving back they come out to greet you and walk you to your room wanting to hear what you have been up to all day.

When we left for the airport they wanted to make sure we had some breakfast, and because we didnt have time they gave us a bag of goodies to eat at the airport.

This place is wonderful and we are going back to Chiang Mai this year, we keep changing our minds about weather to just go straight back to Oriental Siam Resort or to try somewhere new. But if you have never been there you should definitely go. It is a wonderful experience and you are treated like family.

BUT its not just about the service in this place, the rooms are massive and impeccable and beautiful, there is a royal bathroom in the suite. They are luxurious while still being homey and comfortable.

The husband is a landscaper by trade and the gardens are amazing!

We booked this hotel off of the reviews on tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. From the moment they met us at the airport until they brought us back to the airport, the service was unbelievable. The rooms are impeccable and the staff are constantly trying to help. They provided a cell phone to use and had a private car/driver available or will call and arrange a cab if needed. The resort is a little outside the city and some cabs may not know where it is. We found it incredibly peaceful and were sad to leave. If we have a chance to return to Chiang Mai we'll stay at OSR again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Oriental Siam Resort. The positive points others mentioned definitely held true for us as well: great staff, beautiful gardens, great breakfast (AMAZING croissants), pristine rooms, etc...

The use of the mobile phone and driver were also very convenient (although we did have to pay 200BHT each way to/from town). That said, we felt the transportation cost was worth staying outside of the loud and bustling city center.

We had massages scheduled, which we found they were not that well set up for (no spa or common massage facilities). So they sent someone to our room for me, while my fiance was walked across the street to another facility. In the end, my massage was AMAZING (my first Thai massage, actually) and I was literally knocked out for 12 hours after (had to cancel dinner plans and everything). Unfortunately, I'm not sure the name of the masseuse, but she was the older lady that works with the property. My fiance's experience was not quite as positive. I guess next door was a little creepy and he felt a little awkward during what obviously should have been a super relaxing experience. My suggestion, don't schedule tandem massages. Just space them out when one of you can be out at the pool and the other can use the room.

Regarding sleep quality, we were in the Leelawadee Villa and the windows faced what could only have been a rooster farm next door! Needless to say, it was loud and we were awoken in the night by those suckers. Fortunately, by day 2 we figured out that if we turned on the air conditioning fan it would drown out the sounds and we could sleep peacefully.

Lastly, I would say that much of this experience is dependent on who else is staying at the property at the time. For instance, there was a couple with a young boy (maybe 4-5) staying while we were there. So the few times that we were actually at the hotel during the day (and not off on some amazing adventure) the kid was finding creative (and as it happens with 5-year-olds, noisy) ways to entertain himself around the pool. All in all, not a big deal. We mostly just watched him and smiled, but if you're booking this hotel solely for peace and tranquility, you might want to call ahead to see who else is staying there at the time. ;-)

All in all, we would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.
