Much enjoyed the alfresco experience that included welcoming and friendly service, a local dance presentation and good food.
Actually, the food was very good but there were some errors, due in the main to poor English on the part of some staff. This resulted in mistiming of a course and a mismatch on spiciing that resulted in one person receiving a dish that was far dicier than specified and the other getting a dish that was under-spiced. At least the latter could be easily rectified.
So, the soft shell crab course was too spicy though the crab was tasty but small. By contrast, the almost bland green mango salad needed more zip to get close to the medium spice level requested.
The spicy northern Thai chicken soup was delicious with succulent, moist chicken and this had a role to play later.
For main courses we tried a smoked duck arrangement that was listed under curries. It was rated as excellent. Meanwhile a beef, yellow curry soup with egg noodles was great in taste, apart from the beef that was stewed and had too much fat on it. The staff rescued the situation by re-starting this dish so now it was with the known-to-be-good chicken. Now it was delicious.
The desserts included a wonderful mango and sticky rice and an interesting chilled water chestnut concoction that was very tasty.
Apart from the mishaps it was excellent, but it can only score as very good
