Huan was very pleasant and deferential - a wonderful chef & person. Be sure to go there on an empty stomach; we made the mistake of eating breakfast then we couldn't eat the dishes we made ourselves. The prep area was clean and so cool looking. The kitchen was amazing since we were using two woks at a time. It was a great learning experience to go to the market before cooking so we could learn about the fresh ingredients we were going to use. I never knew there were so many kinds of eggplant & none of them looked like the eggplant I'm used to. There were little ones the size of gooseberries that were used in soups. The sticky rice/mango dessert was scrumptious!
I had a great time this past weekend at my half day Thai cooking class. Our instructor Huan (hopefully I am spelling that correctly) did a great job touring us through the market (very interesting) and then helping us with our dishes. I signed up for the tour myself but was joined by two other solo participants and I really enjoyed cooking with them and sharing the experience with them. I chose salad rolls, yellow chicken soup, pad Thai and khaki soi. The food turned out beautifully. I really enjoyed the time and would definitely recommend it to others!
My wife and I read positive reviews and decided to check out this cooking school and restaurant. The food and service was wonderful! It's a beautiful restaurant off the beaten path just a short walk from the Golden Bell Hotel. We highly recommend this establishment!
I have been in Thailand in October 2017, I took a part in three cooking courses in Chang Mai, one of them was significantly better than others.
Chang Cooking ... was not the best one, however was quite good, some dishes were incredibly good like Chicken with cashewnuts - the best one eaten in Thailand, but some were distasteful like Pad Thai (due to really fishy taste, I am not a fan of fish, prawns and other stuff taken out of see, with a small exception reserved for sushi).
This cooking course is a really good place for asian visiting Thailand - seen a lot of them on course, only few europeans or americans, stuff is not well competent and opened to speak due to their level of english - quite poor.
We were there with our 3 kids ages 10,13,16... each one made 4 dishes, and it was very delicious. Huan was very kind and polite, and explained everything with patience. Very recommended!!
Wonderful half day cooking class. Made 4 delicious dishes. Pum was an excellent teacher and chef, she explained everything as she went along. Well staffed and organized!
