“Perfection in the city...”

My partner and I stayed at this hotel from the 17th - 20th of April, having booked via Expedia there was a bit of crossed wires before departing RE: airport collection which had made me slightly apprehensive about the rest of the trip. Fortunately, on arrival at the hotel it was made apparent that and any errors had been made by Expedia and the hotel were only too helpful to make the rest of our stay faultless. All aspects of this trip were catered for to a tee. The room was spacious and immaculate with a wonderful view out front. All staff were incredibly attentive and efficient and the facilities were excellent. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the night bizarre and there are plenty of tour providers located within meters of the hotels grounds.

All in all I can't recommend this hotel highliy enough, will definitely book a Shangri-La Resort in the future.

We stayed in a Horizon Club room for 3 nights as part of a 3 centre trip to Thailand. Without exception George from the Horizon Club Lounge has been the stand out hotel employee of the whole trip - gracious, charming and very professional. The hotel is as expected from this rating of property and caters for the demands of picky travelers. The only minor downside is the construction work on the adjacent plot.

My wife and I stayed here while attending my sons wedding in Chiang Mai. Staff were so attentive and genuinely friendly and helpful. As part of the wedding was held in the hotel we had a special deal and on arrival were upgraded to a suite on the 10th floor a supper room. I could not recommend this hotel more highly, food was awesome, décor and all facilities were first class.
Above all else the staff here are so professional and efficient.
Would I come back ? Definitely

Room Tip: If you can get a room on the 10th floor then you have access to the horizon lounge

This was a very good choice in Chiang Mai. I stayed on the concierge level and was very happy with the room and service. Rathe than the concierge level, breakfast selections are best on the main floor.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here and chose it again due to the proximity to the Night Market (very important to a shopaholic like myself!) and the benefits enjoyed from the 'horizon Club' both of which were still as good. The hotel was much busier this time and sunbeds at a premium in the afternoon. We both love the peace and quiet which we certainly did not get this time due to the building work taking place next door, you couldn't have a conversation with someone sitting next to you by the pool such was the volume, fortunately no sound indoors. I understand that a Condominium is being built which will take at least a year and I suspect will take the sunshine from the pool area when finished! For this reason alone I would not return for a 3rd time which is a shame as no fault of the hotel.

This could be one the finest major hotel properties in Chiang Mai, and it may be. To be sure, it is a very large property and can support major events and conferences. Rooms are fairly large, lobbies spacious, outdoor pool truly outstanding.
While the rooms and service are Five Star quality, and the internet connection is fantastic (I ended up have to spend a lot of time working and the Wi-Fi supported SKYPE perfectly), we drop a star for hotel overall condition.
The political problems in Thailand over the past several years have taken a toll on tourism, particularly the high-end travelers. Occupancy rates are averaging in the 60% range or less in many areas and hotels simply don't have the money to replace older lobby furniture and keep all carpeting properly steam cleaned and updated.
Although in normal times this is certainly a Five Star property, and this review should not scare you off, it is currently just a wee bit under the weather.
BUSINESS TRAVELERS NOTE -- I got slammed with a work emergency and the hotel wi-fi and business center were a huge benefit. If I had been in a Boutique Hotel I would not have made it through the week.
NOTE -- my wife hated the room coffee maker and there is a huge construction project beginning adjacent.

Room Tip: A huge construction project is beginning on the adjacent property and can be very noisy by the pool...

Chiang mai is a wonderful town & this hotel is a little haven of tranquility. The pool offers a lot of relaxation and the service is impeccable-- they promptly bring ice water & fruit in a charming basket after your swim. The breakfast selection is vast and delicious. The lounge offers a fabulous happy hour with friendly service. Highly recommended for anyone visiting this zen temple town!
