“Fantastic hotel!”

Chiang Mai was the last stop on our trip so thought we'd treat ourselves with this hotel. We weren't disappointed! From the moment you step into the lobby you can see how stunning the hotel is. Our room was fantastic with great views of the city! We ate in the restaurant one night which offered an international buffet which was really good and great value for money. The hotel facilities are also excellent with pool, gym and spa. All in all we had a fantastic time at Shangri-La and didn't want to leave! Great way to end our trip. Thank you to all the staff.

Hotels and airlines in the hospitality industry make all kinds of promises about their service quality but tend to over promise and under deliver.

I find the Shangri-La group tend to fulfill their service commitments. Chiang Mai Shangri-La is a case in point. I have visited the property many times and find them always going out of their way to make my stay a comfortable one. On the last visit in Jun 2013 they surprised me by upgrading me to a suite. They also remembered that I liked mangoes and made sure fresh mangoes were placed in my room everyday. The staff are always smiling and welcoming. I would highly recommend the hotel if you are in Chiang Mai.

Doubtless Chiangmai has many good / smaller hotels that provide excellent service. I prefer to just go for the brand i know and get exactly what I expect. No nasty surprises, just great comfort and service. Worth every dollar!

Our profile:
Travelling couple from Canada/early 30s/vacation

Our experience:
Can't say enough about the service in thailand and this was no exception. Had the car service pick us up from the airport and checked in quickly once we arrived. Breakfast not initially included with our reservation, paid 600pp/day for breakfast and access to horizon lounge. Food was nice and everything a westerner would ask for to start their day. Horizon staff extremely helpful with recommendations and assisting with external bookings. Rooms felt a bit outdated compared to previous SL experiences but if you're travelling chiang Mai for fun then you're probably not going to be spending much time in the hotel anyhow.

All in all would recommend again based on proximity to night market, food and airport.

We had stayed at Shangri-la BKK and so more or less knew what to expect here in Chiang Mai. The hotel is in a good location not far from the night market (down the road) and 10 min in taxi or tuktuk from the old town. We stayed in Horizon Lounge level and the extra money is really worth it. You also get a room on the top floor(s). The service is good, efficient, warm and friendly. Staff are attentive and helpful. If your looking for a good hotel, well situated and with excellent service: Shangri-la Chiang Mai is the place to stay at.

this is the second shangri-la property i stayed in after the very excellent Bangkok shangrila. As a golden circle member i was warmly greeted with welcoming wine and offered to upgrade to horizon level rooms which is very nice. The location of the hotel is a plus for it is close enough within walking distance to the night bazaar and the old city, and large enough it has a comfortable pool area to relax in.

Food wise the quality and selection level i have to say isn't as high as the excellent Bangkok Shangri-la, but it's already very good, and staff in the Kad Kafe restaurant is very attentative and paid closer attention to me when i had a stomach upset while eating in the old town, and offered to cook me whatever i wished to eat and offered to have a doctor to check on me, which are very nice gestures which i appreciate a lot. Conciege staff were also knowledgeable and friendly, also i would prefer to take taxi over the local tuk tuk if i travel to chiang mai again as the tuk tuk drivers can be a bit rough around the edges :P

overall, i would stay here again!

Stay here if you visit Chiang Mai. If you have never stayed at a Shangri-La do not forget to sign up for Golden Circle as it is free and will get you added benefits.

Lived up to my expectation of a Shangri-La property. Everything you want from a Shangri-La they delivered - above and beyond service, well kept property, very nice pool area, knowledgeable concierge, and large rooms. As a golden circle member there were other perks such as preferred check in and use of the lounge for breakfast and happy hour. Would stay here again and will continue to stay at Shangri-La properties around the world.
