It's a shame when you have such a lovely boutique hotel, hidden away in a quite small enclave whilst being in the center Mai with wonderful rooms but poor staff.
Pretty much everything Chiang Mai has to offer is a short tuktuk ride away, the rooms are large, well decorated with comfortable beds. The pool area has a wonderful pool, although slightly small, considering the amount of rooms they have, it's large enough. There's also a nice little bar next to the pool along with a bunch of loungers. Most of the rooms overlook the pool which is a lovely touch.
The only thing, and in my opinion perhaps the most important thing is the service. It's almost non-existent. The reception staff never greet you as you walk by, rarely do any of the staff give you a smile (there are some exceptions of course, the male staff were generally friendlier). The straw that broke the camels back for me service-wise was when I asked the reception staff if I could use their phone to book an excursion and they told me they would have to charge me. I'm guessing if I had of booked one of the excursions through them, it wouldn't have been a problem, but since it was one I had found myself, they were not too happy.
I've never had reception staff at any hotel ever tell me I would have to pay to make a quick call, it just seems to be part of decent service.
Aside from the service, this is a really lovely hotel.
