A great experience done in a holistic way. Great to learn about the animals, how to feed and care for them, and how they interact with humans and themselves.

The tour was almost 3 hours and included a ride in the end. The elephants seemed very happy with their trainers as well as in the social packs they belong to.

I went bright eyed and bushy tailed thinking this was an ethical place but I'm really not sure it is. They still do tricks like squirting water on command or raising their ankle to allow you to ride them. I asked the mahout why my elephant was swaying side to side... he said the elephant was dancing but now I know it's actually a severe sign of distress. He made the elephant kiss me.
My mum said I shouldn't speak out because these are big money businesses who might come after me, but how is this cruel elephant tourism going to stop if I say nothing?

Very memorable experience, I cannot recommend this enough! My partner and I did the ‘elephant owner for a day’ afternoon session sharing 1 elephant. You learn about elephants, feed and bathe your elephant and have the opportunity to ride at the end. Ethical operators and very happy elephants, good vibes from all the staff and you get photos of the experience free of charge to download.

I honestly cannot wait to go back here. If I could make it a yearly trip, I would! It was so amazing and incredibly inspiring. I went with another friend and we were able to go through the forest to the waterfall. Your elephant will be assigned to you in the beginning and you get a chance to get to know your elephant. We washed our elephants, rode then, and got to take lots of photos with them. The staff was very friendly and informative and provided a great lunch. Please go if you have a chance!

Patara makes you feel like you're actually doing good and helping these amazing animals. They start off giving you a ton of information on the sanctuary and what you'll be doing to take care of the animals. Then you get to spend the day feeding, bathing and walking with the elephants. Support this amazing spot! You'll never forget your time here.

Although it’s a little pricey it was totally worth it! We stayed near the night bazaar in the middle of the city so it took a while to drive out to the farm (1.5 hrs), but once we got there it was beautiful. It’s in the hills on the countryside and the people are extremely friendly. Our tour guide, Jack, was knowledgeable and spoke great English. He actually had a professional DSLR camera and took amazing pictures for us to download from their website at no cost! The best thing about this farm is that they rescue both wild elephants and those from circus’ or the city. The staff treats the elephants like family and care for them so much. We were able to learn how to interact with our own elephant, feed them, bath them, ride them, and even play with them in the water. I will never forget my elephant and the look on her face. These are amazing and gentle creatures. Hands down one of the best experiences of my life. Thanks Patara!

I was a little apprehensive at first, as we had our 15 month old baby with us. However, the trainers were very professional & put my mind at the ease. The elephants are well looked after & you can see the trainers really care about the animals. The pick up & collection right from our hotel door was superb.

It’s something I’ll never ever forget. I wish we could do it all over again.

Wonderful experience with the Elephants. Instructors were great and provided a lot of information on caring for the health of the Elephants and preparing them for a return to the wild. But the best part was interacting with these wonderful creatures - feeding, cleaning and ultimately hopping into a natural pool to assist in bathing them. A very ethical, non-exploitative experience that was great fun and left you feeling very good.

Did this solo and it was alone worth the trip to Thailand. Patara was great with communication and pickup from my hotel. The staff spoke English really well and were really informative about the animals they watch over. Did event realize they provided lunch which was delicious. Amazing experience overall, would be back here in the future

Second trip in about 5 years to Patara Elephant Farm for Elephant Trainer for a Day. We were not disappointed! I was excited to introduce my brother since he has never been to Thailand before and he loved it. The trainers are knowledgeable and taught us how to assess the health and happiness of an elephant; they walked us through it every step of the way and it was clear they really care for the elephants. These were happy elephants! A special touch was when they brought my daughter's elephant from last visit to the end of the tour for a little reunion. I remembered his name and there he was at the end of the visit. Small group sizes and loads of complementary photos are just icing on the cake. I am a Patara fan. Book it! But do it early because they fill up.
