After reading so many good reviews and awards I might have expected something different.
The first night we had a luxury room, and we moved to a superior room the next day. Rooms and bathrooms were on the small size. Hard beds. Service was excellent. Buffet breakfast was OK.

Stayed here for 4 nights in late December in two rooms with my teenage children. Larger than average rooms. V nice bathrooms. Staff very attentive and genuinely hospitable. Had gleaned from my passport that it was my birthday during our stay and they presented me with a beautiful cake and card.
Lovely pool. Hotel is located over the river in a quiet location yet still close to all the attractions. Free use of bikes.
Highly recommend a stay here.

The service at this small, boutique hotel is amazing! Every person we encountered was so eager to help. Smiling and enthusiastic and eager to assist, they made this lovely place really special. Our rooms, we stayed more than once, were beautiful. The pool is spacious and very, very clean. Breakfast choices were good and abundant. The fresh omelettes each day were very tasty. A very nice feature was the drying rack for clothes that accompanied each room. When you are traveling, it is a wonderful service to have detergent and a drying rack available for your use. Internet capabilities were super, with excellent wifi in the rooms and computers in the lobby. We found the location to our liking--a very quiet area, yet very convenient to all you would want to experience. It is the people who made this place special. We had a fantastic time and would return in a heartbeat. Our memory of the sky lanterns on New Year's Eve are very special. Our photos cannot match the beauty of those thousands of airborne lanterns. What a memory!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the second floor rooms more than the first as we had the better view of the amazing trees...

What a Hotel! I do not even know where to start or what to say.
It was everything perfect. The staff was the best staff of our trip to Bangkok. Just perfect. They helped us, given us advice and suggestions and checked our pre booked trips if everything was ok. I have not a single suggestion how they can improve. I really think, that the staff has reached the perfection. So I just hope they can keep that level.
The rooms were clean, the swimming pool is also nice, the breakfast is also good, the restaurant is also a good option if you just want to stay at the hotel. If you want to go anywhere, you can also walk to the Night Bazar (10-15 minute walk) or just take a Tuk Tuk or a taxi for 60 Baht.
If I ever go again to Chiang Mai, I would stay without any doubt again at the Rimping Village.

It's not like this place is bad but I fail to understand the very high ratings it has received. Our room was large but characterless, our bathroom fine but a bit smelly. It's a bit far out of town to be convenient, but doesn't have a secluded resort feel like some other hotels we have stayed in Thailand. Breakfast was very mixed - fruit and pad thai were very nice but coffee was stewed to death, yogurt was vile and omelettes and scrambled eggs tasted primarily of margarine. If you're looking for a charming boutique hotel this isn't it... it's also quite pricey. By the way the free transfers mentioned in other reviews appear to be a thing of the past (our airport transfer was 300baht).

Rimping Village provides the best service I've ever had in a hotel. The staff are so helpful, engaging and anxious to make your stay perfect. I was there during Loi Kratong and the hotel provided guest with kratongs for the festival and offered and helped the guests light a lantern. I stayed in two different room due to availability, the superior rooms are definitely better but both were to an good standard. The hotel is quite tucked away but well within walking distance of the Tapae Gate. You can borrow bikes, although I didn't. The restaurant was small but the food excellent. A real find, I'd definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: If you can afford a superior room, they are even more spacious and some have balconies.
