I came to Chiang Mai during the end of December to 2014.It is a little bite difficult to find a available hotel to stay. So lucky to met Buri Gallery House. The location is good,in the city, near the temple Wat Pha singh .and it is quiet for ur sleep. breakfast is OK. the room is small but beautiful. all the staff I meet is kindly and earnest.

I booked Buri Gallery House based on the positive reviews I had read. Having been in Chiang Mai for the last month I stayed in several guest houses in different parts of the city to enjoy the various neighbourhoods.
Buri Gallery House was my slightly more expensive 'splurge' hotel for my last week in CM. Unfortunately it was the only really awful accommodation in the whole trip! My room was decorated in the historic, Lanna style but also a bit grubby - a sticker or two was on the floor from previous guests' luggage, for example, and cobwebs in the bathroom near the water heater. The room was small and only had a towel rack to hang clothes on, no full length place to hang dresses for example. The shower head could not be held in place by itself, you either had to lean against the (dirty/mouldy, not sure) wall or hold it above your head yourself. The manhole was hanging down a bit also. The TV remote did not work.
On the plus side the hotel is in a convenient location, has free modest mini bar, decent wifi and a pool. Breakfast was also included in the rate. The clincher for me though was the noise that could be heard through the walls and ceiling during the night.
After the first night, I tried to check out because of the noise and cleanliness issues, but was offered another room and assured it would be clean and quiet.
The new room was much cleaner, a bit larger, and had a cupboard, desk, computer and safe (but now I understand what is meant by complaints of black spots on sheets!) There was also a 5cm hole in the wall. Unfortunately the new room had the same noise problem. The hotel is undertaking building works at the moment - but the noise I am referring to is other guests which can be heard outside and above your room whenever they talk or walk around.
For a bit less money, stay at the very clean Dozy House (more backpackery - spotless, friendly service in the quiet northwest corner of the Old City with a shared kitchen you can cook in) or Baan Klaan Wieng which is a similarly spotless, hotel/guesthouse style property closer to Thapae Gate and Moon Muang Rd.
Even though I couldn't get a refund on the rest of my stay (be a bit careful when booking with Agoda - they only publish favourable reviews), I paid for a new hotel elsewhere.

The hotel is small but with beautiful grounds and architectural layout. The rooms are boutique style with very nice decor. The staff were exceptionally helpful and nice, and the travel agent at the hotel (her name is Oh) was very involved in coordinating our trip (we booked a 2 day trek with her) with making sure that everything was booked correctly and on time. It was a wonderful stay, one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in!

Oh who is the owner I believe was simply lovely! The staff are friendly and very very helpful. It is in the heart of the city and close to everything!! Oh makes it feel like home. If you are looking for a quiet place near the temples and the Main Street this is it. It has wifi and computers in each room as well as the lobby.

Stayed there 3 nights end of november. perfect location for the local sunday night market in the middle of old town. very friendly and helpful staff in a nice surrounding! Close to some nice temples and around 20 minutes walk to the more touristic daily night market.

Lovely staff and quaint and rustic style accommodation getting a face life currently and in the best location. We are all photographers on a pleasure trip and Oh has been most helpful. We loved jumping into the pool after a day in the town, Wifi and great breakfast

There is construction going on right now that lasts until 10 pm. The frame is only done on the addition so I imagine it will be a while. Pool is nice. Some rooms are great, some are not. You should look at a few. I booked my room on agoda and got a great deal.
