Rux-Thai Guest House
Ranked #231 of 802 Chiang Mai B&B and Inns

We stayed at Rux-Thai for a couple of nights and were very happy with it. The location is perfect, right in between the Old City and the Night Bazaar, although we did get lost trying to find it in the evening! We booked a cheap double room which was clean, had an ensuite and a telly, but the bed was a little hard for us, wouldn't say uncomfortable as other people like hard beds. The free wifi worked great, as did the a/c.
We met two ladies who worked there, one who was friendly and helpful, the other was usually grumpy and not particularly helpful, but we had no problems with the guest house so didn't need to talk to her too much. Overall, it was a very pleasant couple of nights. Would recommend.

Our airport cab driver brought us here on a whim after we told him how much wed like to pay. It was perfect for us. It was off the main road which was nice and quiet. The front desk can book you excursions. They take credit cards which is nice because for the rest of our travels through Thailand it was mostly cash only. Staying outside the "square", I'm forgetting the name, was nice because you get to explore a little more. Rux thai was clean and a great deal for the price. We stayed 3 nights I think. Nightstand for bags (we locked ours in there at night with our locks), fine shower and toilet with toilet paper, 2 beds we pushed together so all 3 could fit in one room. Fan was fine. They have breakfast there although we did not try it. Looked fine though! We went to a little place just up the road on the left before you hit the main road (you'll probly see two little dogs) which was fresh and delicious. Also did a thai cooking class right next to the guesthouse and just past this breakfast cafe that was wonderful. I would reccomend staying at rux thai !

We stayed here for a week in Chiang Mai. We chose Rux Thai as a budget option, with a cheaply priced air conditioned room with wi-fi. As a couple, it worked out to cost the same for the two of us to get a decent room here versus staying in a hostel, and this review is from that perspective. If I were to review it independent of budget, I would likely give this hotel 3.5 stars.
That said, the room was clean (and staff cleaned it daily), the wi-fi was solid, and the air-con worked. We had consistent hot water in the shower, so no problems there. There was a fridge and a closet. I will say the bed was a bit firm for my tastes, but we've found that fairly common in south east asia.
The location is outside the Old City, but it's just a five-ten minute walk away. Is between the Old City and the night market area, and there are many bars and restaurants near by. We found the location very convenient, and we had no trouble getting there by tuk-tuk from the airport.

We had just got out of the bus after a ten hour journey from Bangkok, and a tuctuc driver showed us a leaflet with Rux in it, we were so cream crackered as it was around 2AM so we just yeah whatever! Anyway turns out it's in thebperfect loctation, like others have said away from the sleezy bars and clubs so its nice and quiet at night. But also only a 5 minute walk into the old town, great if your bavkpackers and looking for a reasonably priced room with a hot shower, air con and good WiFi. Would stay again!

We picked this place off of Trip Advisor for the balance of cost and location. We needed to be near a friend's hotel, but didn't want to pay the higher prices there. This place seemed like a great combination for us, and it was.

The wifi worked okay, but nothing fancy. It is far enough away from the main streets to be quiet at night. There were hostel type rooms on the top floor, and the rooftop allowed for great views at night, which in November is a constant stream of lanterns floating away lighting up the sky beautifully.

The room was decent for the price. Everything worked as it should, and it didn't seem to be infested with anything. We never tried eating at the restaurant there, but we did use the laundry service. Clothes were ready at the front desk when expected. The building was clearly repurposed from something else, and we had fun trying to figure what these extra rooms and covered sections used to be.

We stayed about a week there, and would probably do so again. It was painless and cozy place to stay, and we had no issues whatsoever.

For 900b, three of us shared a clean room here several nights. The location is lovely, down a little side street away from noisy bars. Also not far from Taepae Gate, on the east side of the city (outside the moat). Rooms were clean! Bathroom was separated by a wall into two areas, with one side for the shower, and one for the toilet, which isn't so common in cheaper thai lodging. Wifi in the room and a water refill station in the hallway. We would come back here!
