“Increadible hotel, fantastic room, great staff”
Reviewed February 27, 2009

We had one night stay here - wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is bit outside the old town - probably about 2-3 miles to the night market - on the river. The room is designed with traditional Thai style mixed elegantly with modern amenities. The bathroom has wonderful stone waterfall next to the bathtub. How cool is that! The pool is an infinity pool with swim-up bar. Very refreshing after a long hot day sightseeing. We can definitely say that this was one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in.

What I liked about the hotel :
1) Well maintained and beautiful grounds
2) Nice big rooms and tastefully decorated
3) Breakfast staff were good and the buffet was good.
4) Nice gym and spa.
5) Early check in and Late check out given with no fuss.

One minus point:
Difficult to get tuk tuk from hotel. Not impressed that I was asked to go to the roadside to hail one by myself when the staff at the front door couldn't hail one for me from the road after 5 mins. Can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel in which the doorman asks a guest to try hailing a taxi himself, granted he did try for 5 mins at the roadside.
The most unfortunate thing is that this happened to me twice during my stay with different staff.

We really do appreciate your comments and suggestions and try to use them to improve our service as best as we can.

It is nice to read you appreciated the facilities and the rooms and I will pass on your nice comment about the breakfast staff to them, they are always happy to get a compliment from our guests.

Sorry to read you had some trouble getting a tuk-tuk, you can rest a sure I will look into the situation as it is certainly not our usual way of service!

We do hope to welcome you back in the near future.

AT the hotel, it is beautiful setting and decor and funiture. it has lovely water, gardens in the hotel area near restaurant. the food is great. the service is friendly, and great and helpfull and personal. the pool is gorgeous overlooking the river. we took the river sunset hour crusie with a snack. which was fresh cooked for us, enough to not go hungry that evening. hotel was helpfull, and had their own tuk tuk off in style. the garden view room was excellent and decor great. the bath has its own waterfall and tv satellite fed in bathroom. great stay. chaing mai is great. we did oxcart, elephant camp ride, bamboo raft trip. and the Tiger Kingdom was great to go with the big cats. loved the markets. Dont Miss The Sunday markets, take walking shoes, and money. its fantastic.

The hotel is along the river, a bit further away from the city center and the 'night-market', but thus very quiet.
The rooms are large with nice balconies and have all the usual amenities. Everything is spotless and clean.
The staff are all very friendly and forthcoming. The breakfast was good (buffet), the dinner was excellent.
Check-in and check-out was handled well and fast. (Late check-out was no problem.) The Spa was good, but not outstanding.
Overall, definitely great value for money!

My wife and I stayed at this property late December 2008 for 5 nights. It was a huge surprise how good it was, really really good. The rooms are immaculate and well appointed, breakfast on the terrace overlooking the river, sheer magic. The new owners have kept up all the standards of this 5 star poperty.

We also thought the hotel was well positioned, not far from the centre of town, and the night markets, a very quick tut tut trip into the city centre.

Lots of Thai VIP's were staying there, so that was a good sign

The conciege, Gai, was unbelievably helpful, nothing was a problem, he even escorted us to various places around Chiang Mai, he was a pleasure, and so charming.

As a golfer, the only issue, is there are no great courses anywhere near this property, they're all a good 3/4 hours drive away and out of town, although the pleasant Gymkhana Golf Club is minutes from the hotel, and okay for those desperate for a hit.

  • Liked — beautiful location on the river, and immaculately appointed rooms, with plasma and DVD

It’s my short period of journey to Chiang Mai during low season. I booked the beautiful RatiLanna Riverside due to my passion in Northern Thai Style and the hotel really did not disappoint me at all. I could take many of great shots in room and from each area in hotel. It seemed to be nice everywhere I look. The room was very cozy and spacious even it was deluxe room. The food was ok for Breakfast but I mostly ate outside. The staffs were friendly and very helpful. They could provide me a lot of information as I need to know directions for traveling in city. I also tried hotel tuk-tuk which was very excited and comfortable. What upset most was rain. I could not use swimming pool and the hotel could not provide me boat cruise as per offer in hotel information. The staffs said that the water flew very rapidly and it was too dangerous during that time. There were also some mosquitoes in room but there was a spray provided. I would really want to stay at RatiLanna again and hopefully I will have a chance to take a boat in Ping River!

Dear MySunday,

Thanks for your review, we appreciate you taking the time to provide your comments.

It is great to read you appreciated the Lanna-Thai decorations in the Hotel.

Sorry to read you did not get an opportunity to take a cruise with the hotel boat.
We must put safety first however it would be my pleasure to arrange a complimentary boat cruise for you the next time you visit Chiang Mai.

We sure hope to welcome you back.

Happy 2009!
