“Great resort!”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We spent four nights here and it was amazing. The rooms are clean and huge. We had a balcony with a daybed, perfect for reading and relaxing. The bathroom was spacious, with a shower stall and a tub. There was a waterfall next to the tub, as well! The entire staff was very welcoming and friendly, and breakfast was amazing. The fitness center was pretty large, wish we had time to use it. The center of town is not walking distance, but it was a short and inexpensive tuk tuk ride. Overall, this was a great place to stay and I would definitely stay here again. My only complaint is that they did not have hair conditioner (other girls with long hair will understand).

Great hotel and good service if you are looking for a luxury hotel. Excellent breakfast and good restaurants. Staff is very service minden and nice pool. The suite with three t.v.s and one in the bath room is rather exceptional.

Room Tip: Ask for room with a view over the river.

If your budget won't stretch to above USD$150 then Ratilanna is the best option in Chiang Mai. I came to Chiang Mai on a little getaway to chill out and discover another part of Thailand that I hadn't yet explored. I started my trip at Puripunn Boutique resort a little closer into the city (average) then moved to Ratilanna after two nights.
The resort is a tiny way out of the main centre of chiang Mai, but getting tuk-tuks out the front is really easy, and the hotel runs a shuttle bus (which I never took) the tuk-tuks cost 100baht to get you anywhere you like. Takes less than 10 minutes to get to the night bazaar or the old city.
Ratilanna is right on the river ping. And unlike other riverside resorts, it looks out over the river across to what appears to be a big park or gardens of some description. Really nice view. And really quiet too.
The pool is wonderful. Salt water which is always my preferred. Could be a few more daybeds as it can get crowded if the hotel is busy. There are more daybeds down right on the river, and do ask for cushions for these as they are wicker and not comfy without the cushions.
Food is excellent. Very tasty. You can order at the pool bar. Food comes really quickly and whomever is running the kitchen seems to take great pride in the presentation and quality of the food.
I had a deluxe room on the 3rd floor and loved it. The bathrooms are really well designed and allow natural light in even thought they appear to be like standard hotel room bathrooms. They have their own water feature and massive bath (with a tv).
Bed is super comfy (I like hard beds) and massive. Technology in the room is pretty advanced with a controller next to the bed which operated the lights and dnd etc.
staff are excellent and couldn't do enough for me (but weren't in my face either).
Breakfast is fine. Don't expect a Shangri-la or Langham breakfast here, because, lets face it, you're not paying for that.
I came to the Raitlanna as a single traveller wanting to get away from it all and that's what I got. I would bring my husband back here though as I know it would be a good place to hang out with a partner.
A solid well run resort in a lovely part of the city.

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of our trip to Chaing Mai - it was a beautiful find. The reception and check in were excellent, as was our room. Spacious, clean, beautifully furnished room with large balcony with day bed and a fabulous bathroom with it's own internal waterfall. It is a short ride in a tuk tuk to the main town. The infinity pool was lovely as was the surrounding bar area, especially at night with candles lit all around. There was a good choice of breakfast and it was served on a lovely terrace overlooking the river. Staff were helpful, particularly when we had a wallet stolen at the night market. The night staff drove us to the police station and stayed with us as interpretor for no charge. Excellent service all round.

I thought that the breakfast buffet could be improved a little .The spa treatment and the gym facility were great as well. they also have a nice souvenier shop for last minute shopping. On the whole I can say that it was wonderful experience and would recommend it .

Only stayed in this hotel for 2 nights as part of a roundtrip, but could have stayed much longer!

The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful, furthermore those members of staff we spoke to spoke very good English!

The rooms are nicely firnished and there was a big bath with a TV, so you could watch TV while having a nice relaxing bath :)
There was of course another larger TV in the bedroom.
But the one in the bathroom was just a little added luxury which was greatly appreciated.

Also there was a great breakfastbuffet with a wonderful variety of different types of exotic fruit, some of which I'd never seen before.
Wonderful pancakes which were different on the 2 mornings we were there (coconut/ chocolate chip) both delicious!
There was also a selection of Thai-breakfast dishes and many orher things, so nobody should go hungry :D

Free wifi in the room is another added plus, aswell as the "roomboy" which gets rid of the annoying mosquitos.

All in all an excellent hotel with wonderful people working in it!

the hotel is a little old but what stands out from this place is the service. The check-in process was quick and easy, we also received an upgrade to a suite. The suite is spacious and has its own balcony. I noticed in this hotel, all rooms have a balcony. Room is clean, cozy and spacious with beautiful teak wood interior - similar to Thai traditional house.
They pretty much have everything in the rooms, but missing one thing : conditioner! I think when you pay 5 stars rate, you expect the hotel to provide a decent guestrooms amenities, such as shampoo and conditioner. It would be great if the hotel can provide that.
In terms of location, you may need to get a tuk-tuk to go to town, night market, etc. It cost around 60 Bath to go to night market.
The breakfast is great, plenty selections for Western and Asian food.
lastly, I would commend the front desk staff for their great service and friendliness. It was a nice experience to stay in this hotel.
