“We loved our week here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2013

We absolutely loved our stay at Mandala House. Our room was on the 5th floor in the main building, we had a triple and it was HUGE! Tons of space to move around, which was great for us for 6 nights. The room was extremely clean and well kept, they even put an extra chair on the balcony before we arrived so we each had a chair outside. Upon entering, we were greeted very warmly and taken personally up to our room where they showed us around. The staff was super friendly, our favorite was Tone (spelling?) he has the absolute sweetest smile in Thailand. He arranged transportation for us a few times and was extremely helpful, as were the rest of the staff. The location is fantastic, off a tiny side street but within easy walking distance (5 minutes) to the old city and 5-10 minutes to the restaurant/night bizarre area by the river. We were there during Loy Krathong so there was some noise from fireworks at night be we all still slept soundly. Beds, linens, and AC all very comfortable.

Breakfast was fantastic each morning, we never had to wait for a table, although I did see it was busier later in the morning. The selection was perfect with the best orange juice we had in all of Thailand. It smelled freshly squeezed! We utilized the laundry service, which was only 40 baht and it came back quickly and smelled amazing! Internet service was good. The only negative we had was the shower didn’t have a curtain so water would pool on the floor in the bathroom. We also spent some time at the pool and even had lunch there, which they brought out to the pool area for us, and enjoyed both greatly. Chiang Mai is less expensive than other areas in Thailand but we felt we really got a lot of value here at Mandala House. The friendly staff, location, and clean spacious room really sold us on this place. We would definitely stay here again!

Stayed only one night and needed to go to the airport early. Breakfast was served for us at 5am and taxi came on time. We loved the location as it was in a quiet area just a short walk from the old city. Room was comfortable and staff friendly. Would use this hotel again when in Chiang Mai.

Off the main drag this place allows for a good sleep and access to everything. Granted it's not all brand new and full of glitz and electric gadgets but you do get what you pay for.

The rooms were clean and there were some interesting design attempts. The colour scheme showed a sense of humour!

Walking from the hotel to the main drag was easy and took only a couple of minutes. It was only a minute ot two more to access the walled city. This was an early hotel on our tour round and following the Bangkok centre hotel it represented a step up! It offers no pretentions but breakfasting in the open air was great albeit there wasn't really enough room as the place was full. So you have to wait a couple of minutes. Who is in a hurry in this part of the world. A good choice on a budget ( as our tour operators probable were at this point)

Room Tip: All rooms were quiet from what we could tell

Excellent value for your money in this little guest house! Travelled here with 2 other girlfriends. Staff was extremely friendly and very accomodating. Very clean, breakfast in the morning was great!
Perfect location, trust me you don't want to be on the main street (very loud and dirty). Mandala House is a 5 min walk to the main trip and we were able to spend a day walking around town visiting temples.

If you are contemplating buying an additional bed or cot just be weary it is literally a tiny mattress on a wooden cot, felt like sleeping on the hard ground. But most Thai beds are hard anyways.

Otherwise great place, I would stay here again in a heart beat if coming back to Chiang Mai

I don't understand some people. Hello did you expect Ritz Carlton service and mattress for $22us a night? The place was clean for what it was and easy to walk to the markets and restaurants. Overall not bad and breakfast was very good.

This a well run hotel, clean, quite and within walking distance to Chiang Mai's popular attractions, Onnie the girl at the front desk is helpful and always smiling, there are two sections to this hotel, an older section which is fine, but the newer section has larger rooms and some with a view of Mt Suthep, so be sure to specify which rooms you want to stay in, the online booking say all rooms are superior, but this is not true, breakfast is great, and so quick, especially if you are on the run, enjoyed staying here immensely!......there is a nice pool aswell.

Room Tip: Top back room, 2504...I think!
