“The best hotel that i ever stay”
Reviewed February 24, 2009

I have done a several survey on the most of the hotel website before i visit Chiang Mai. Finally i choose Fondcome Village due to the moderate price and the good view from their website.
I spend 4 nights there in their Tai Yai room with my family and 3 years old son. That is the first hotel that make me feel so sad on the day we leaving.
The hotel staff is just like our family member. They always show concern and warmest greeting to us. Due to the low season, they have spend some of their time with my son on playing with rabbit and seeing the flower at garden. My son love them very much.
I like their garden, full of colorful flower; the canal, full variety of small tiny fish and their room decoration.
We will be definitely back and stay in Fondcome village in our future trip.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights during our honeymoon in Thailand. Gorgeous hotel in a gorgeous setting. We were actually given the room we had requested when booking online. The staff is great and very helpful. Not everyone knew how to speak good english but the chef speaks excellent english & they called him when we got stuck! A bit far from central ( about 15min drive) however all tours pick you up from hotel so it was no prob for us. Would definetly recommend it. Rooms are great and clean. TV , Ac, hot water, and laundry all available.

My wife and I just came back from a two week trip to Thailand. We decided to spend 5 nights in Chiang Mai at the Fondcome Village and we loved it.

The Fondcome is not actually within Chiang Mai. It is about 20 minutes outside of town. However you cannot beat the value that you receive there. It is also a welcome relief from the hustle and the bustle in Chiang Mai to be able to recharge your batteries in the country. They run a variety of free shuttles to town, you can also arrange rides to town whenever you want to the different sites.

The rooms are all spacious and unique. The room we stayed in was traditional Lanna architecture, our bed was on the floor and we had a huge picture window of the creek outside. There were also many other rooms, including a few that had live trees growing through the ceiling.

I think the most rewarding part of staying at the Fondcome was that this is a resort for Thai people more than for Americans. For us it just makes no sense to travel halfway around the world to have just what we have at home.

A couple of notes. They have a tour company that they work with for group tours. We found the group tour to be a little stifling, though very cheap. After that we hired a taxi for the day to take us all around town. It cost us about 1800 baht ( 50 dollars or so) and we enjoyed that more.

My family and friends have experienced a sentimental touch of Thai Lanna at Fondcome Hotel. It made me proud of Thailand and it is the place I can be proud to present Thai Lanna culture to my American friends and family.
Fondcome has the unique and romantic rooms with 50 different themes designed by the famous Northern Thai Architect, Por Liang Uruporn.

As an American tourist visiting Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand for the first time, I was a bit apprehensive about finding a place to stay for my 5 day trip to Chiang Mai. A Thai friend recommended Fondcome to me—I couldn’t have stayed at a nicer, more relaxing, cultural (and affordable) place. With its close proximate to the Chiang Mai airport, the hotel driver was there to pick me up and whisk me away to Fondcome, a short but pleasurable 15 min ride.

I was stunned by the beautiful and symbolic lay out of the resort. There is a small stream of water every vehicle pulling into Fondcome goes through, effectively “washing the feet” of the car. This is symbolic of the Thai tradition of cleaning one’s feet before entering a home or building. The reception desk is housed in part of the main building that is shaped like an elephant, a revered animal in Thai culture. In order to enter the reception area or the restaurant, a guest must walk under the elephant, which in Thai culture brings one good luck. Thus, each person staying at the resort “walks under the elephant” to reach the reception and dining area. I learned this and more from friendly and informative chats I had with the hotel director (who is also an architect who helped design and build the resort). It was small touches like these that greatly impressed me and made my stay at Fondcome an unforgettable one.

Each hotel room has a specific theme, from traditional Thai farm villa to a hill tribes villa to a missionary villa to a honeymoon suite. While I stayed in the Thai farm villa, the staff was more than willing to give me a tour of all the different themed rooms. I even had the chance to check out the honeymoon suite, which was phenomenal (its roof opens up so that you can sleep under the stars at night!). Regardless of which themed room you stay in, they are all charming in their own way. My room was very spacious with a very comfortable bed, a TV and plenty of drawer/closet space. My room had a window facing the river that flows by the resort, so I fell asleep and woke up to the soothing sounds of flowing water. (You can also hear the waterfall from the natural swimming pool when you wake up as well.) The bathroom had a very nice shower in it, including hot water (something I have found missing in some other hotels I have stayed at while traveling in Thailand).

The staff were all friendly, helpful and attentive. I was a little worried about a language barrier as I know very little Thai. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the English skills of the staff—I had some very interesting conversations with them about the local food and culture. The staff also helped arrange trips to the local Night Safari, a trip to a local crafts market, and an all day excursion to an elephant farm (with stops at an orchid and butterfly farm as well). I went to Chiang Mai with no set itinerary, but through the helpful suggestions of the staff, I was very satisfied with all the outings and exploring I did while in Chiang Mai. The staff booked the tours for me and the hotel driver got me to the places I needed to go in a timely, prompt manner (including pick ups after the tours were over).

The breakfast buffets at resort were delicious and very filling—with fresh fruits and other Thai breakfast dishes, along with regular Western breakfast fare. The kitchen staff and chefs prepared delicious lunch and dinner options as well. There were guests from all over Asia staying there, so I had a chance to socialize with some very interesting people. In true Thai style, there is also a karaoke machine in the dining hall which can be used after dinner for fun and entertainment.

I would highly recommend the Fondcome Resort for anyone staying in Chiang Mai, from tourists just there for the weekend, to those looking to having a relaxing break from Bangkok, to even honeymooners (and did I mention its really affordable?!?). The resort has a very user-
friendly website (in English, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean), which makes booking reservations very easy.
