Staff were extremely rude and cocky. They are really unhelpful and walk around with a scowl. The rooms were ok but for a dorm you can pay 20baht more for J.J's next door and get really friendly staff. If it wasn't for the poor service, this place would be great. Its a shame.

This place is REALLY popular so its a good place to meet other travelors....thats about it. The rooms were icky and the service was poor. The women were a tad rude and they place booked up super fast. Although there were tons of people there so never really a dull moment. We Stayed there for 2 nights and then moved next door which was MUCH more quiet but also cheap with nicer rooms. It depends on what you want. If you are travelling alone then this is a good way to meet people.

Normally I yould say, we are to old to stay at backacker places, but this one is really recommendable. The staff is absolutely helpful, the prices are really low, compared to a backpacker place it is really clean, even people with babies have been there, the food is absolutely great, better then a lot of other restaurants in Chiang Mai. It is well organized and is located in the center of Chiang Mai, so everything is within walkingdistance, you can also rent a scooter to go up doi suthep or doi saket....respectively you can book at Julies travelagency really everything you could think about (without cheating).....we can recommend the cooking class at Sammys and the 3 day hike....reallllllly fantastic! but you can also use the nice chillout-area just hanging arround and wasting your time by doing nothing......and there are really a lot of people doning so :-) unbelievable for us, but up to you! we will definitely come again!

The area around the guesthouse is nice, calm, the café Mickey is really cool, everybody is smiling and helpfull in Chiang Mai except people who work there. That's to bad because it's lovely, the food is good, it's cheap and the bedrooms are ok.
I don't know if they have to much success or if they really don't care about we think about them but gosh we couldn't believe how rude there were! And I'm not difficult.. Not everybody in the staff was like that, of course but you just feel not comfy, and disturbing them.

If you read this just do something, get a smile, enjoy life or do get another job.

I think this is one of the most popular hostels in Chiang Mai. Makes sense because it rocks. Book ahead. Rooms are simple and beds are hard but the prices are low. Food served there is affordable and tasty. They books tours for you, but it's worth shopping around. There are many tourist agencies along the streets in the area. Check out Peaceful, it's just up the road from Julie's. All in all a cool place to stay and meet people.

I stayed one night at Julie's guesthouse in a private room, double bed, fan, and hot shower. Entering Julie's guesthouse feels very inviting there are always young travelers sitting in the common area and free pool table. The staff is always busy and helpful when you get a hold of someone. The room was clean and quiet. The guesthouse is off the main road so there is little traffic and it is very easy to walk to town center. I would stay here again. My only complaint is that the wifi didn't reach the rooms, so you had to hang out in the common area to get a good connection. But being forced out on the common area was nice as a single traveler because I met a lot of people this way.

Room Tip: if Julie's guesthouse is full (because its so popular) try Diva' guesthouse across the stree...

We stayed in a double room for 300bath per night with our own bathroom. The room was clean, the beds were nice comparing to most of the very hard beds in asia. The staff was very nice and helpfull. The hostel has a great atmosphere and several lounges were you can meet other backpackers. Really enjoyed our stay here, would definitely go back!!
