Great little hotel tucked away from the centre of Chiang Mai.
We had a lovely 4 nights here in July and can only think of positive things to say about our experience.
The staff were fantastic, welcoming and helpful.
Our room was clean, colonial, great balcony with comfortable sofa and being the fussy sleeper I am the room was ideally dark so we slept so well and won't woken by the early light!
The food was lovely - we could have stayed at breakfast all day! We had one evening meal, and even though it was comparatively a little pricey, the food was delicious.
I would recommend the Puripunn to anyone who wants a little bit of luxury, within easy reach of the walled city, but away from the hustle and bustle of central Chiang Mai.

More colonial old world than 'boutique' hotel. A pleasant stay with most staff friendly. Very quiet and away from the hordes of tourist in the old town. Short walk into the old town over the river. There is a tuk tuk to take you in, but we walked most days. The dining area lack any real atmosphere, as you sit outside by the main entrance. We only ate breakfast there in the end. The spa was good, but hotel prices (versus the cheaper spas). Swimming pool was a welcome relief from the warmth of the day. Overall my wife says its a nice hotel in a charming city....

I stayed at the Puripunn in November whilst attending a conference at the Shangri-la. Although not the most conveniently located hotel for town the short taxi/tuk-tuk ride was worth it for the warm welcome, amazing service and relaxed feel of the Puripunn, far away from the corporate world of the large hotels. The staff really were wonderful and happy to help in any way. I was dashing about a lot and they were always on hand to help, booking taxis, carrying bags, and even packing me take-away breakfasts to eat in the cab on the way to the conference meetings. The hotel would be even better for a romantic break, the fairy lights in the courtyard were so pretty.

Thank you to all at the Puripunn for looking after me so well!

We moved from the Shangri-la, Chiang-Mai to Puripunn. It was a great choice. While it doesn't have the scale and "glitz' of the larger ,better known hotel, it has warmth, charm, and authenticity.

Frankly, that was the point of our stay: local luxury rather than generic global chain establishment.

Thank you Puripunn for your service and special care. We had a great Thai experience in your hotel. We'll be back!

Room Tip: I don't know..think you can't make a bad choice. Hotel is kind of 'tucked-in' isolat...

The Puripunn "baby grand hotel" is a perfect description of this property. It's tucked away on a local street where you will not be bothered by traffic and once you pass through the arch into the peaceful garden...and you will not want to leave! There is a small courtyard with an adorned spirit house and a gently fountain next to the outdoor restaurant area where breakfast is served.

You are guided into the lobby where you check in while being served a cold towel and drink. And then through the garden to the room. The photos on their website are accurate, so I've not added any. We experienced everything from the cooked to order breakfast with special little treats every morning. At the end of our day of business, we returned for a beer in the Pool lounge and were served some yummy peanuts with fresh lime and chili...interesting and delicious combination.

We also ate dinner one evening in the restaurant and enjoyed a whole fish with veggies and herbs, the morning glory appetizer, and a salad. As always prepared to perfection, and served with quiet style.

The hotel has their own 6-passenger TukTuk and will take you anywhere around town (within reason) at not charge and in comfort. They can also arrange a taxi for a longer journey. The hotel is within walking distance to the Thapae Road gate to the old city if you are so inclined. A great morning walk is to cross the Naowarat bridge and turn right to go to the flower market and Chinatown area. A great way to see and experience the local culture.

Since we've stayed at this hotel twice before, we can only say that the owners have continued to maintain their high standards of personal service. When every employee delivers their best, you know that this reflects the training and culture of the management. The hotel also offers a beautiful pool, a small spa for foot and body massages, a fitness center, and free wifi. If you've left your computer at home, they have one for you to use in the upstairs lounge area. They have really thought of everything you might need while in Chiangmai!

There are many new "boutique" hotels since our last visit to Chiang Mai, but we've looked at them and will continue to return to Puripunn where we feel welcomed and at home. It's great value for the money.

Room Tip: All the rooms are the same layout, but we prefer the rooms at the garden level.

The Puripunn is a beautiful, unique hotel dominated by gorgeous wood finishings, fresh flowers, and Thai touches everywhere. You'll be hard-pressed to find another hotel in Chiang Mai with this level of luxury for a reasonable price. We went in the off season (September) and so the price was shockingly low especially compared to what you get:

- ultra clean, large, high-ceilinged rooms with that wow factor
- lovely, gold-fixtured bathroom (with tub)
- balcony (see pic) with sitting area and fan (perfect for relaxing, reading, or eating)
- amazing made to order breakfast included
- stunning, clean, and charming almost Japanese garden style pool

This is place is super professional, with a staff that understands what you need without getting in your way at all (they know the balance between quality service and over-doing it). I think my two favorite things about this hotel were the fact that they didn't nickle and dime you at all in any way and the fact that the owner personally came over at one point and was genuinely asking us about whether we were having a comfortable stay and curious about our feedback.

Location is pretty much perfect. If you've been to this city before then you know that some areas are, tragically, starting to resemble some of the gross "massage" dominant sections of Bangkok. This hotel is a 20-minute walk away from these areas while still being 100% perfectly accessible to everything you'll want to see and do, which is great.

If you're in CM in the off-season, you won't find a better deal in town.

Room Tip: Ground floor is poolside, but obviously no balcony. Since the balcony is to me the best part of the...
