“Very pleasant ambience”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

Located in the centre of the city raming lodge offers a great location and a pleasant ambience. Bars, restaurants and the night markets can be reached by walking in minutes. The staff are courteous and helpful and the atmosphere is friendly. The rooms are a little outdated but comfortable enough and are cleaned well and quickly every day.

We had a nice stay at Raming Lodge Hotel. Very friendly staff and good service. The breakfast was fine, better than other places in Thailand, but nothing special either. The restaurant was not good, there are many other better restaurants in Chiang Mai.

We tried the spa - more expensive than the cheap places on the street but much better massage and atmosphere.

Overall good value for money. Would recommend this place to others.

We stayed in the Deluxe Double room which was big.

The free minibar was just some water and juice, no alcohol.

Pros:
- Service
- Price
- WiFi
- Big rooms
- Cleaning every day

Cons:
- Little noise from the streets at night
- No remote for aircon (not a big problem)
- Restaurant

Both my wife and I are in total agreement that we absolutely loved our stay and thoroughly enjoyed every minute at the Raming Lodge & Supaya Spa. This hotel offers free online memebership/registraion that provided us discounts, emails, in house benifits , offer more tours then one can partake in one visit. We were picked up at the airport on arrival addressed by name, transfered to the hotel where... again we were called by name from the pleasant staff at the front desk. luckily for us our visit was during the slow season and we were informed that they upgraded us to a suite. We had all the perks, airport transfers, the breakfast which is out the front door by the lobby in a beautiful covered garden area. a very well appointed variety for ABF,foods, drinks, fruits eggs to order. Wife was given a daily 1 hour massage voucher to the Spa. I recieved 2 Bar B Q dinners vouchers. Free WiFi, Room service was impeckable, very promt and changed all linens towels everyday. Room was very large3 sections to the bathroom, bedroom with kingsize bed spacious with a bar and living room in the other area. 2 seperate comfortable air conditioners. Free use of the mini bar and fresh baked cakes from the kitchen daily. swimming pool just out the rear door was clean and refreshing. we found the entire well managed staff to be alert, vibrant, attentive, informative, kind. and courious everday. the lobby has a well prepared staff to take care of all the tours, sightseeing and points of interest and specials events during our stay.restuarant, lobby room service all get 5 stars from me. Needless to say my wife and I left there after aweeks pampering with a heavy heart. Raming Lodge is the only place we will stay anytime we revisit ChiangMai

Stayed here with family for 4 nights and cant say it's an awful hotel but have stayed in better. Check in was smooth and efficient and were shown to our room in about 10 mins. Stayed on the 5th floor and were impressed with the room size and amenities. The beds were very comfortable which is unusual for Thailand as normally the beds are rock hard. Sadly not so with the aircon though, which is a must, had issues on two nights where it just cut out all together. Was promptly fixed properly after second complaint. Buffet breakfast was adequate with plenty to choose from.

The area that the hotel is located in is around all the "girlie" bars so if you're travelling with children you will have to walk a little distance to find more family friendly oriented bars/restaurants. The hotel is located very close to markets which is a bonus and to the moat and gate system that surrounds old Chiang Mai City

Sadly the pool area is not located on the property itself but across the road. We spent an hour or two there on the first afternoon, pool bar service was almost non existent and the area lacked atmosphere. Fortunately we were not in the hotel during the day so apart from that 1st afternoon we did not use it again.

All in all was an ok stay for the 4 nights we spent there as we were out almost every day. I would not elect to stay here again if travelling with children based purely on its' location and the pool not being no the property

Room Tip: Stay in deluxe rooms on the higher floors

Stayed 4 days with my Girlfriend in January 2013. A great hotel. Staff speak very good English and are very helpful with all requests and problems. The room was lovely, big comfy bed and great bathroom. Had breakfast every morning was very nice with good options. Great location in the middle of thr city but the Hotel is very quiet once inside. Pool area is at the back and probably isnt upto the standards of the rest of the hotel but nothing to complain about. Great hotel would highly recommend!

My husband and I, and our two friends stayed here for two nights while visiting Chiang Mai. We were able to get adjoining rooms - which was a pleasant surprise :)

The hotel is very clean and quaint and the rooms were spacious with a big bathroom (which isn't common in Asia) and comfy bed.

The location is great! It is close to the old city in Chiang Mai and located near many temples. We took tuk-tuks almost everywhere. They are very easy to catch outside our hotel. The road behind our hotel has many bars, pubs, shops, and restaurants. The best thing about this hotel is their staff. They were very helpful. We used their tour service on one of the days were were there to go out to the Elephant camp and to a village. It was very reasonably priced. The driver didn't just drive us, he toured us, telling about things and walking us through the day.

We only used the pool once, as we were busy out and about, but when we did, it was nice. It is pretty small, but it wasn't crowded when we were there. The pool side drinks were very nice and convenient.

The breakfast was great! Something we looked forward to both mornings :)

The only negative thing that happened was that the airport shuttle didn't take us straight to the airport when it should have. For some reason, there must have been a mis-communication and the driver dropped off people at the bus station first. So the 20 minute ride (what we were told it would be) turned into almost an hour - so we were quite rushed at the airport, and it made some for some un-wanted stress on the way there. I know that this wasn't necessarily the hotels fault - but just a heads up to make sure that if you ride the airport shuttle - they know where you need to go :)

Overall, we were all extremely happy with our stay and definitely recommend it to anyone!

Location is my priority whenever I look for a hotel and I'm glad I chose Raming Lodge for my Chiang Mai trip. It's located along Loi Kroh Road which is lined with shops, restaurants, money changers and spas. Our package included free airport transfer and te driver was waiting for us as we exited the terminal. It took about 15 minutes to get to the hotel from the airport. Check in was quick and easy since we arrived at around 2 in the afternoon. We booked connecting deluxe rooms and they both had nice Lanna style decor but small windows and views were blocked by the motor of the air conditioners. Wi-fi was strong in both rooms (we are on the 5th floor) and proof is that I'm making this review here in my room at Raming.

Service is good. Thais are friendly and warm hearted so the staff was always smiling at us. Special mention to Nut who picked us up from the airport and even helped us find transportation for our self-planned tour around the city. He's a welcome sight from a day of walking as he stays by the door of the lobby and his bright smile is always ready to greet us. The other staff members were nice too and even helped us get in touch with a tour group we didn't book with the hotel. Breakfast buffet in the morning has a lot of dishes but not much variety from one day to the next. The hotel has a pool located a few steps outside the main hotel. You have to cross the street to get there as it's located beside the hotel's parking area. Food is now served there as well.

One thing I noted about the hotel is that they heed comments made by trip advisor reviewers. One reviewer mentioned about the rude tuktuk drivers that charge exhorbitant fees just to get to nearby places. There's now a post by the elevator that says something to the effect of having the concierge find you transportation instead of dealing with the drivers on your own.

Location wise, it's about a two minute walk to the Thapae Gate of the Old City and a 10 minute walk to the night market. There's a 7/11 a few steps out the hotel and a cheap spa right across the street to relieve you from all the walking you'll do around Chiang Mai. Area is generally safe for walking at night as bars line the street too.

Overall, we are having a good stay at Raming due to it's location and service.

Room Tip: Choose rooms on 5th floor. The wi-fi on higher floors seem to be stronger. As there's a singer e...
