We went on the Majestic Elephant Project - Single Day as part of the Saddle Off Program. It was well organized. There were 7 people in the group and 3 beautiful elephants. I think we all had ample time with the elephants. The best part for me was feeding them. The owner of the elephants was present during our time. He was kind, and genuinely appreciative.
We went for a short day visit. Which I found the perfect length of time especially like today when it was incredibly hot (& also if you are taking younger children - there were 2 in our group). Our guide Mini was very knowledgeable and obviously very passionate about the elephants. Even getting very emotional when describing to us some of the treatment these giant animals have had to endure. The sanctuary tries very hard to match the demands of its guests/customers with those of the elephant whose welfare to the park was obviously paramount. I think it does it very well. We were able to walk with the elephants, observe them at close range while they carry out their daily movements. We were able to join in the feeding. All in all very instructive and heart warming experience. The more we all partake in this kind of tourism the greater the chance for better animal welfare.
It was the best trip ever. I did the overnight tour, what was the best choice for me. I really recommend rhis park for you. They do no riding, bathing the elephants. You just feed and watch these beatiful and amazing animals, while your guide tells you there stories. All of the elephants have been rescued out of terrible situations and they have still not recovered. You can see their scars, dislocated hips and damaged foots. All staff at the park are loving the elephants so much, I could see it in their eyes. They felt with them when they are hurt. The park gives them a chance to heal and feel happy again. You can visit the elephants as well as their rescued dogs and cats.
The food was so good and a really good variety to pick from.
I would love to go back again
We cannot say enough about this sanctuary. Well cared for ani.als roam the property and knowledgeable guides share their expertise. Must do!
We did the half day tour and I was very happy with the experience.
The drive was quite far but didn’t feel uncomfortable and bumpy. They showed a movie about the park and some history, which was quite sad. On the way, you can see elephants from other camps giving rides to guests and tours, which is quite heart breaking but really shows you how great ENP is in comparison.
All the elephants were well taken care of and guides did a good job. There were some dogs there, all well fed and social. Didn’t care to play with us though as they prob see so many strangers every day.
Vegetarian lunch was as expected and tasted good, even though we are not vegetarians. Washrooms were outdoors but very clean. They sell rain ponchos at the store if you need it.
I thought the half day was the perfect amount of time for us. the only improvement I can recommend is a bit more food to feed the elephants to be a bit more interactive.
I find the prices very fair and it feels good to be supporting a wonderful cause!
we opted to just visit the park instead of going through one of their partner camps (saddle off) because we thought it seemed like the park itself is a little more progressive in its treatment of the elephants. I think we made the right decision! other camps may offer a hike with the elephants and the chance to bathe them but these things still require more "obedience" from the elephants, whereas at ENP they seemed pretty much free to do whatever they wanted. in no way do we feel shortchanged. we still got to feed them and watch them bathe themselves. you really get the sense that this place is having a positive impact on the industry and it felt good to support their cause. "O" was our tour guide. we threw a lot of questions at her and she was so well-informed and knew each elephant's individual story. bring a tissue for the ride up... the video showing how some of these creatures have been treated in their past is heartbreaking.
