This place is a hidden jewel in Chaing Mai.
You can not book how ever through trip advisor you need to do it on their web site. www.baanorapin.com
You wont be dissapointed if you like older style buildings and wooden floor boards, beautiful tropical settings, four poster beds and mozie nets!
The pool area is tranquil. B'fast is excellent, ask for the thai b'fast the day before if you like spicy food its excellent.
The location is excellent many restaurants close by and on the river, a short stroll to market area or tuk tuk for 60baht if sore feet!
Look out for the white rabbit who sems to roam free in the evening in the drive way! very friendly place we will return without a doubt! Just loved every minute.
Also, the rooms are huge and just beautiful and mini bar prices are not much more than what you can get from 7/11 so why bother shopping! ENJOY!

Travelling with my parents, the friendly Opas - one of the managers of Baan Orapin - had suggested that we could stay in a One Bedroom suite. The room was beautiful, in a traditional house set around a nice garden and swimming pool. The room had a bedroom and lounge where a day bed was made up for me to sleep, where my parents had the king size bed in the adjacent bedroom. The bathroom was spacious and there was a small wardrobe as well.

The breakfast had a choice of several sets and always accompanied with some fruits and coffee or tea and juice. They had a few special dishes as well which had to be ordered a day in advance. Can recommend the Thai style special breakfast for those who like it spicy!

The staff was very polite and for more difficult queries Opas would come out to help.

The room decorations were beautiful and similar decorations could be bought in the shop in front of the hotel, featuring local crafts.

Just across the river from the hotel (it's very near the footbridge), is Chiang Mai's night market. The old city is a bit of a longer walk, around 20 - 30 mins, but it's cheap enough to take a song thaew or tuk tuk back if you get tired! (around 50 or 60 Thai baht)

We liked the little stretch along the river, and had dinner at the river twice at the Deck1 restaurant, a modern fusion cuisine setting at the river side. Very nice ambiance and great food. Just 5 mins away from the guesthouse.

All in all a nice place to stay!

My wife and I stayed here last year on our honeymoon while passing through Chiang Mai. Our only regret is not spending 1 or 2 more days here. Excellent location, service and great hosts. Right by awesome restaurants and pubs. We even bought a painting at one of the local galleries to bring home as a cherished momento from our trip.

The host recommends the best tours and services such as health spas. I would not however recommend the 'Golden Triangle Tour' waste of a day, mostly spent in the car. We did however the experience the tour with the elephant riding and jungle trek which turned out to be one of the high lights of our trip and quite reasonable.

If we ever make it back to Chiang Mai, this is where we would stay hands down.

The Baan Orapin has an excellent location and the rooms are secluded and private. The staff was very accommodating and the breakfast was fantastic. The swimming pool was refreshing. We would definitely stay there again.

My husband and l stayed here in August, and were amazed how beautiful it was. Baan Orapin is in a very central location, just a short distance to the walk bridge, and then you are right near the market area and the famous night bazzar. There are many places to eat, and just wander around. We stayed in a junior suit which was upstairs and we had our own little area overlooking the garden area. The room was very spacious, as was the bathroom. The breakfast was fantastic, and the owners were very friendly, and made us feel very welcome. We found this b & b on t/a and all that the other reviews said were very true. Stay here you won't be disappointed its so worth it.

This is our second stay at Baan Orapin, and it was even better than the first time around, if that is possible. Thanks to Opas and Ann and of course Pepsi and the rest of the staff for making our stay memorable once again. This is a very quiet and intimate B&B with lovely spotless generous sized rooms, gorgeous tropical gardens and the cleanest pool you could ever wish for, in fact it was the cleanest pool we came across in our whole month in Thailand, it was a pleasure to swim in. We just love this place and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Chiang Mai.

We found this place through trip advisor and found it as good as all the reviews say. Very comfortable & tastefully decorated rooms and kids loved the pool. You have to pop out for meals other than breakfast but there are loads of restaurants just down the road - easy walking distance. We were very well looked after by the owner/manager, who couldn't have been more helpful. Would thoroughly recommend this place - it's a great find.
