Spotlessly clean boutique hotel in the quiet part of town but very close to the walking bridge so really an ideal location. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. The resort has a swimming pool which is great to come home to after a long, hot day exploring with city. Staff are delightful and a special thank you to Pepsi, Opas and Mo for their help and for making our stay very memorable.

The Baan Orapin Bed & Breakfast is a lovely, quiet oasis . . . a 100 year-old colonial Lanna style teak home (now used as reception and breakfast area) with three two-story, Lanna style guest room buildings, a small but immaculate swimming pool . . . surrounded by private gardens.

Location, location, location!

One would think that you were far removed from bustling "downtown" Chiang Kai, but in fact the Baan Orapin is within easy walking distance to the many restaurants, art galleries and boutiques located along the west side of the Ping River.

You will also be just a three-minute walk from the hotel to the "foot bridge" which crosses over the Ping River, bringing you directly to the Warorot Market . . . then with a bit of walking to The Pao Road - which brings you to the The Pao Gate and the old city . . . with food markets, the famous "Night Bazaar" the "Sunday Market", historic wats and temples, handicraft shops, etc.

Our room was welcoming, comfortable, clean and spacious . . . with beautiful Thai woven wall hangings, teak furnishing, bathroom with beautiful ceramic tiles, mosquito netting, private balcony (we were on the second floor in one of their largest rooms) over looking the garden/pool area . . . and well equipped with AC, TV, refrigerator, electric was pot for tea & coffee, etc. A lovely, delicious breakfast (menu) is served by the pool (selection includes pineapple, mango, bananas or dragon fruit; eggs, toast, pork dish, sausage or sticky rice; fresh juice, tea, and coffee; etc.)

The grandson of the home's original owner, Khun Opus Chao, with his wife, run the hotel.
They also recommended a wonderful, English speaking expert guide, very
knowledgeable in Thai culture, history, food, religion, etc. to us . . . which greatly enhanced our visit to this beautiful area. (The one negative when we were there was no specific "front desk", so you had to hope the owners were around to help you.)

Beautiful, historic. Breakfast in the main house is gourmet & feels like a trip back in time. Our suite located behind the main house was made entirely of hardwoods (poster bed, etc) and yet had a quiet/efficient AC and well appointed bathroom. Nice bars/restaurants nearby along the river; footbridge nearby leads to bazaar and hustle/bustle of Chiang Mai. Staff are joyous & helpful. I take it the house has been in the family for decades.

We stayed here for a week, taking 2 overnight trips out to the Elephant Nature Park and to do a hill tribe trek with Green Trails. It is truly a total haven, we adored it. We are a family of 4 with children aged 10 and 7 and all loved it. Our large spacious 2 bed apartment/room was very tastefully decorated with beautiful linen and towels. Everyone who worked here was so friendly and helpful but at all times very professional. The breakfasts are delicious and all the outdoor space is so peaceful. Pepsi, Opas and his wife were very helpful in organising evenings out and transport. For us the location was perfect, 5 mins walk from the day markets but over the bridge so tranquil and quiet. We took tuk tuks to the night market for about 80 baht so very inexpensive. Would utterly love to return, both our children too. We will recommend to everyone.

My first impression was that the rooms were a bit dated, but I ended up loving this place. We had SO much space in our room to chill out, and it was so incredibly peaceful by the pool. The breakfast was amazing. In walking distance to lots of restaurants along the river, and very easy to tuk tuk into the old town (or you can walk, although a bit long in hot season).
