I stayed here for a few days while on a missions trip. It was amazing. It is small and quaint, so it tends to be quite. The garden and Koi pond are simply stunning. The rooms are average size with little amenities. But it did have hot showers (like you need them in the Thai summer!) with good pressure, air conditions which are a MUST, and I felt very safe there.
They have a few tables and a small menu, but the breakfasts are to die for. Try them!
And the owner, Dang, is a wonderful woman. She will help you with absolutely anything. If you give her your clothes she will have them washed and folded by the next day for a reasonable price. I would recommend this unless you like walking around in sweaty clothes.
This is also close to the Night Bazaar which is a shoppers paradise. It should be on the "1000 things to do before you die" list.
I plan to stay here in the future, and you should too!

My family and I stayed at the Mountain View Guest House for ten days in June 2006. The experience was excellent from every aspect, especially the food (you must try the fresh fruit and fruit pancakes). If you are looking for a big box hotel experience, this is not the place; but if you are looking for a comfortable, local place to stay... this is it.

Service was excellent. Every need and request was accomodated immediately. They helped us with arrangements, translation, and other services. The family room we had (four beds, A/C, private bath) was comfortable, reasonable, and clean. There is an internet cafe right in front of the guest house with very reasonable prices.

Located just inside the Chang Phuak gate, the guest house is within walking distance of the Sunday Market (much better than the Night Bazaar) and only a short tuk-tuk ride to the Night Bazaar and modern shopping centers (Centre Plaza and Airport Plaza).

I stayed here with a group of scouts (really!) last year and it was perfect for what we needed. If you are looking for a luxury hotel with every little detail taken care of don't come here. If you are looking for a place to put your head down with decent enough wash facilities and a comfy bed after an exhausting day then do come here. For a really cheap room the decor is suprisingly good. All buildings are wooden and have been furnished nicely with a stream that runs between the buildings to a small pond.

The owner is a really nice lady who did everything she could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The last night we were there we stayed at the guesthouse for dinner and she made us a cake to say good bye. We would have seen a lot less of Chiang Mai had she not given us advice and tips just so she could be helpful.

Chiang Mai has a lot of attractions in and around the town and much more natural beauty than Bangkok. This guesthouse is a great, good value base from which to see it all.
