“Excellent Hotel In Great Location”
Reviewed July 25, 2011

My fiance and I stayed in the D2 Hotel for 3 nights in July 2011. The hotel is situated in the middle of the night market which is a great place to explore at night whether you are looking for a bargain or just want to soak up the atmosphere. We tended to get a tuk-tuk from the hotel when venturing any further. This was great fun and a great way to explore Chiang Mai. We did a tour of the 3 city temples by tuk-tuk for TB50 (around £2).
The hotel staff are very friendly - we were given a nice welcome drink on our arrival as well as some excellent advice on local attractions, restaurants, bars etc.

The hotel restaurant and bar were quiet at night. This may be because they were a bit more expensive than some of the other places in Chiang Mai. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice.

It is a modern, trendy hotel which manages to maintain a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel also has a nice pool which we had to ourselves every time we used it!

I would definitely recommend the D2 to anyone visiting Chiang Mai!

This was our 4th stay at Dusit D2 and again it was wonderful. Staff (so many still the same as from our first visit four years ago which says a lot), are all fantastic and go more than the mile to make your stay the best they can. I think there is only one possible thing that could be done to make things better for us, and that would be a matress topper! We are used to a water bed so you can imagine how Thailands beds feel to us. We stayed at 6 resorts in our 7 weeks in Thailand and found that four offered toppers to us softies who like a soft bed. But the staff did replace our matress with a somewhat softer one which did help and we were most grateful for it. Manus & his staff are fantastic. We also stayed at another Dusit property while in Thailand and D2 beats it hands down in all ways. We'll hopefully be able to return again in the future.

Fantastic place to stay which epitomises famous thai hospitality. It was conveniently located across the road from the night bazaar, and having street stalls sprawled across the front gate meant that leaving the hotel put you right into the action. We arrived via overnight bus from Bangkok and so cannot comment on how far it was from Chiang Mai rail station. Rooms were spotless and modern with daybed by the window looking out to the hotels garden bar; toilet and bathroom were clean and modern and staff were always helpful, cheerful and prepared to wait on guests. Again, proximity to night Market was fantastic!

This hotel has it all for those who like to get pampered in a large hotel near a top loaction in Chiang Mai. If you're into modern styling, from frontdesk until sugarsticks, and you appreciate top notch service, the D2 (well known by any tuktuk driver in the city) is the place for you. Be sure to check out promotions at the usual promotion sites to be sure you get great value for money!

Cons: Very hard beds (for a hotel in this class it should be possible to solve this issue), showering in the bath tub (if you're 6ft and up, you can't shower properly) and the admission for the (superb, large buffet) breakfast where a cook makes your favorite eggs. Last but not least: the parking officer. He's friendly but please somebody from the staff take off his whistle. No need for whisteling allday on the parking lot!!

All in all, the D2 is a recommended as a safe, top service hotel in central Chiang Mai.

After a compromising start to our holiday in Bangkok, the Dusit D2 its employees and the friendly locals of Chang Mai redeemed our love of this culture. We stayed 4 nights. This hotel is trendy and upbeat. The staff were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble- we forgot a couple of necessities and within minutes our requests would be met.

Best of all, when you have three extrovert and at times, happily loud children you tend to feel a little apprehensive in hotel surroundings- but our kids were treated with so much respect, affection and were given loads of attention. To be honest, this hasn't been the norm in many of the hotels we have stayed in, which leaves you feeling a little resentful as we are a family of five and bring in good business!

Every single meal we had (buffet breakfasts, buffet lunch, in villa, pool side and a la carte dining was sensational. We will never forget the georgeous omlette/waffle chef who was only more than happy to serve my son his third sometimes fourth round of waffles much to our embarassment , and the proud chef who would come out to tell us all about the dishes. These are impressionable intricacies which provide for memorable occassions.

An absolute treat for my husband and myself was when after a full days sight seeing we would set the kids up in the room with movies and in- room dining. We would go down the corridor to complimentary happy hour to have canapes and drinks. We also had complimentary access to a coffee machine and soft drinks all day!

The spa and its treatments were luxurious! All organised tours and recommendations by staff were highly successful. Every day we'd find little gifts in the hotel rooms. The hotel is just around the corner from the night bizzarre which unlike the millions of markets you see provided a myriad of handmade artifacts and handicarfts.

The only negative aspect were the tiles around the pool area which were extremely slippery and as expected we all had a few slips and slides.

I'm planning a shopping trip with mum and cant wait to get back to this hotel!!

Room Tip: club membership is a must as the extras are plentiful

We stayed at this hotel for five nights. We booked a club room. The welcome and check in experience was great, the staff we wonderful. The room was lovely and a good size. The room was also clean and in great condition. The added daily surprise left in the box on the desk daily was awesome, they ranged from lollies to small gifts. The hotel restaurant was an awesome dining experience and the service very attentive. In fact, all the staff were excellent and helpful. The hotel is located in a great location and only a short walk from the old city. Will stay here again on our next visit.

Chose this place because of the good reviews on Trip Advisor. And yes, it's a nice hotel. the staff are ultra polite and it's clean and tidy. The spacious lobby was impressive, surreal even, but the room did not live up to it. Smaller than we expected, and no balcony so we used the in-house laundry service. 865 Baht for a few T-shirts and 2 pairs of jeans infuriated us. To be fair, we should've gone to a local laundry where the charges would have been about 100-150 Baht. Never mind, my fault. The decor consisted of wood-slat (and a bit small) woodrobes, and dayglow orange everywhere, the room leaving me in a constant desire for a sauna and a can of Tango. The pool was clean and the water was warm, nice, but again smaller than the pictures suggested. Would I stay again? Sorry, but no, the in-house costs were too off-putting, and the room far too small for the cost.
