The hotel is right in the middle of everything, a few short steps to the night markets which is amazing - never seen anything like it in my life & it's on every night!!
The room we had was on a smoking level, so request non smoking if you don't want the smell. However the room was huge! The photos make the rooms a lot smaller than they are. Staying for 5 nights it was great to be able to spread out!
Breakfast in the morning was good you have the usual eggs & bacon, but also a lot of Asian options aswell.
The pool is big too & wraps around half of the building. It's a shame the sun isn't on the pool for half the day as it was cold when the sun wasn't on the pool.

The staff are mostly friendly I found however on check out that they make you wait until the maids have checked the room before they will check you out - this took at least 15mins & we had a transfer to the airport (if I was aware of this I would have checked out earlier). I also asked the concierge to call the transfer company as they were running late (which at all major hotels I know they do for you) however the refused & acted dumb or didn't understand what I was saying. I found that a lot at all the places we stayed in Thailand their English is minimal & they ignore you most of the time & pretend to be on the phone instead of trying to help. Slightly annoying but most of the time they are more than helpful.

They also have a tour desk which was good for us as we only booked one tour prior to arriving so to have a local that knew about everything was great! A must do is the tigers - I think we paid 200thb for a taxi and they waited for us out there until we were done.

Overall our stay was most enjoyable I would definitely recommend for anyone to stay at the hotel.

Following our stay in Bangkok we headed up to Chiang Mai, despite being very well situated the hotel felt very tired and failed to live up to our expectations. It felt like we had gone back in time. The hotel had potential to be amazing but old and worn sofas, carpets and curtains really let it down. Having said that, we weren't there to stay in the hotel, we were out enjoying various trips and the night bazaar which is just a stones throw away from Duangtawan Hotel.
Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately i wouldn't recommend to stay at this hotel until it is brought in to the 21st century.

Hotel was very old, carpet dirty, rooms dirty, had a stinky bag in the fridge, took ages to get in a lift as they have so many floors. Not fancy hotel at all. Staff was not helpful and you even had to pay for the WIFI, not understandable in a 4 star hotel in 2014... Should be free!
The only good thing was the location, quite central

Dear Valued Guest,

Quite clearly our overall standard of service and product presentation was perceived as extremely negative when you stayed with us recently.

Please be informed that a renovation of many rooms and facilities was started last year and is scheduled to continue this year. I have asked our House Keeping Manager to check more closely the daily room cleaning which marred your stay

With regards to the charging of internet services throughout the Hotel we are presently reviewing our current policy and will endeavor to find a solution for our guests in the very near future

Please accept our sincere apologies on behalf of the entire hotel team for the unpleasant experiences you encountered

Yours sincerely,
K Boonchai – General Manager

This hotel has a great location however the best word to describe the inside of the hotel and especially the rooms is "grotty". The interior is dated, carpet lifting, tiles are mouldy.
It is sad to see as this is part of the Centara group of hotels but this is possibly their lowest standard hotel in their group.
Will not stay here again.

Getting the positives out of the way first, the hotel staff not rude - which was about it. For what you pay, and the way the hotel describes itself you should expect western level standards which this hotel is a million miles away (it's not even western yha standards,..). The rooms appear to be last decorated in the 70s. Carpets are frayed, net curtains across all the windows which have gone grey with age, ceilings which are showing mould in most corners, bathrooms which cannot be rescued with any amount of cleaning (mould ridden sealants, shower heads that are filthy, sink that has hair stuck around it...you'll be more dirty after taking a shower). There is NO wifi - forget the paid vouchers system, it doesn't work and you can get breakfast IF you leave your room 1 hour before you want to eat as the lifts don't work.

There are a number of hotels at the same price in the area such as the meridian which are massively better. Staying here is a sure fire way to ruin your holiday and line the pockets if either your travel agents or the hotel owners. The hotel is one step away from just being a plain scam and if I were the Thailand tourism board I would investigate it ASAP. Unless you are paying 50 pounds or less a night would stay clear

To be totally honest, it is not a bad hotel but neither is it a great hotel. Good would probably be the best word to use when describing it. It is quite run down, lifts are very slow, rooms are quite basic & non sound proof, bed is super hard & breakfast setting is chaos. It is however in a pretty good central location & the staff are very helpful & friendly. It has a great outdoor pool setting but unfortunately water is freezing during their winter time so it kind of nullifies it. It also has a very good gym if you are into that sort of thing.

Room Tip: For an extra 1200 Baht per night you can upgrade to a suite which comes with a few extra handy benef...
