Great hotel within the old city. Great value. Great rooms, great atmosphere, comfortable beds, great service. Great breakfasts. Would definitely return. A modern hotel that feels hundreds of years old with Its Lanna architecture.

I was a solo traveller, and stayed for 4 nights. I was very happy with the deluxe room. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was spacious, but only with a standup shower, i did wish that it came with a bathtub. door of the bathroom was narrow, so sometimes i did bump into it! no problem with wireless internet inside the room, or outside. I enjoyed the little outdoor lounge area quite a bit, read my book out there in a very quiet atmosphere, shared by some mosquitoes! Breakfast choices are plenty, if you are into western style. Fruit plate was a disappointment! there were only 1 slice of papaya, 1 slice of mango, 2 slices of dragonfruit, and 1 slice of watermelon, and i am talking about thin slices too. As a result, i opted to go to the market and bought and ate fruits to my heart's content. i guess the fruit plate would be the only negative comment about the hotel. location was great, quiet street, really close to SP chicken (which, by the way, is excellent!). however, you are only a few minutes away from the busier part of old town. I would probably stay here again.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights just this past August. I cannot say enough good things about it. It is just beautiful. We both agreed we did not want to leave. As much as we enjoyed exploring Thailand, we jokingly kept saying that we could have just stayed at the Rachamanka the entire time we were there. The service was excellent, the rooms were lovely, and the entire property was so elegant and wonderfully serene. When I return to Thailand, I will definitely be staying at this hotel. I don't know if anywhere else could even compare.

Rachamankha is a stunning hotel in a great location in Chiang Mai and it was absolutely perfect - it's an oasis of calm in the midst of the streets of Chiang Mai and the design of the hotel is simply stunning - from the great pool to the antique furniture all around the building, the fantastic seating area, the library, the restaurant - we loved the style of the courtyards and the evening lighting in particular. The breakfast service, whilst not particularly speedy, was also very special. I have seen other reviews commenting on the decor of the rooms being not exactly opulent - such reviewers clearly miss the point of this hotel and its traditional styling - which is in our view no less luxurious than what you get at other 5 star hotels. We stayed in a spacious deluxe room which had an incredibly comfortable four-poster bed surrounded by curtains which was tastefully decorated with antiques and had several seating areas. For the price, this hotel is fantastic.

Our only negative comment would be that the Concierge should be much more readily available and should have a better knowledge of opportunities for "non-touristy" excursions such as walking routes in the nearby national parks and options for car hire and driving trips out of Chiang Mai. She had nothing to offer beyond a booket of set excursions. She also wasted a lot of our time by refusing to put up a deposit for booking a visit to an elephant conservation farm when we didn't have cash on us at the time of booking. This caused us to waste a lot of time searching for the conservation farm's office later in the day in order that we could leave the deposit - only for it to transpire that it was totally unnecessary to leave any deposit at all. Much better to go over the road to the excellent, knowledgeable and friendly public tourist information office to get proper recommendations and booking services.

When our driver started taking us down a side street, we wondered where the heck he was taking us. Then he turned in to a driveway and voila, we were at this beautiful hotel smack in the middle of Chiang Mai. Lovely antique furniture in our room. We enjoyed the restaurant twice and also the pool. We only wished we had booked another night, but we were on a tour. We found the streets safe to walk on at night if you wanted to go out. I saw some other reviews that commented on this not being a 5-star property in the European standard. I will agree that it isn't the Ritz or the Plaza, but it is a fabulous property in the middle of Thailand. I'll stick with my rating. Nothing's perfect. I will say that the only complaint was that the internet wasn't working that night, for some reason. My wife said that wasn't a bad thing...

Rachamankha is one of the most tastefully decorated hotels I have stayed at. It is located close to Wat Phra Singh and the Sunday market. The room we stayed in had beautiful antique furnitures, the library has an immense collection of books, the lobby is airy and splendidly furnished however, the staff at the check-in, at the breakfast service and bar are not very hospitable. They lack warmth and enthusiasm. I hope the management appoints staff that can do justice to this beautiful property. There is spa over looking the pool. The charges are exorbitant. I would recommend going else where for your massages.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 days on our honeymoon and WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED. I decided on this hotel on the TripAdvisor rating and reviews.

The hotel is located within the Old City Walls, around the corner from Wat Phrah Singh, which was great. It was on a quiet street, yet close enough to Rachadamnoen Street (Sunday Walking Street) lined with restaurants, shops, and massage parlors.

The hotel was simple yet elegant and was impeccably maintained. The grounds were perfectly manicured and the rooms were simple, yet beautiful. Breakfast was included and served daily in an adjoining building which was very convenient. The amount of food offered was often too much to eat, but there was a decent selection. The concierge staff was very helpful in setting up any kind of transportation, or contacting "excursions" while in Chiang Mai.

The entire time we were at the hotel, we never saw more than 3-4 couples except when at breakfast. It was very serene, and I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Chiang Mai!
