“The absolute way to chill out in Chiang Mai”
Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here, based on Trip Advisor reviews, and we're not at all disappointed. Such a beautiful relaxing place to chill out for a few days. Service was impeccable, the design is spot on, rooms amazingly comfortable, breakfast delightful, the overall venue made me want to move in........! Highly recommended.

The housekeeping staff is amazing! They have some of the best touches throughout the room for turndown they even do a full clean of the room if needed!

Rachamankha is one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed in. It is conveniently located in the old city so that you can explore Chiangmai Mai on foot - or just stop one of the many tuk-tuks you find outside. Once you enter the hotel you find yourself in a quiet, peaceful piece of paradise, putting the huzzle of the city behind you. Hotel building, grounds and pool are really stunning. Very beautiful and authentic with a lot of attention to details. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, both are highly recommended.
We stayed at the same time in the hotel as the previous reviewer and therefore experienced the same 'issues' with the pool. Even if we were as disappointed as they were that we were not able to enjoy the beautiful pool, we do not share their experience about how hotel management handled the situation at all. When we came back from sightseeing the hotel manager approached us immediately to inform us about having to close the pool. He explained the situation - which is no health risk at all - and offered to drive us to a different hotel to use their pool. Which we did. He was very nice, very apologetic and offered a good alternative. Having been in the hospitality industry myself I just can say that the situation was handled properly.

Rachamankha is a beautiful hotel and its grounds are the best part. The superior rooms are quite simple yet tasteful.

The big disappointment came from the pool: we got to swim in the evening after we arrived, but the next morning they closed the pool and the water was completely white. They took away the parasols and cushions so that we could not even use the chaises longues. Afternoon, evening - no change, pool closed, and no one talks about it! Only at 9PM we got a letter from the manager announcing a "problem with the water" which should be resolved in 24 to 48 hours, which means that we will not be able to enjoy the pool at all during our stay. In compensation, they offered us to use the pool in some other hotel and have a free drink at the bar, which does not seem a good deal at all, since half of the value of the hotel comes from its big, beautiful and peaceful pool.

We did not feel that the hotel really cared about the inconvenience, and the fact that we were the last people who swam in the pool before they discovered there was a problem with the water made me feel eeky.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite in July 2013 with our family. The stillness and serenity of this charming hotel was like nothing we have ever experienced. At each turn on the property one encountered such elegant vistas and a grace produced by an eye to detail inspired by art of the highest quality in the Lanna tradition. The staff were friendly and always responsive to any issue. Could not recommend this spot more highly: exquisite. Thank you all at Rachamankha.

Having stayed at the Rachamankha 3 times, I have concluded it it one of my favorite hotel experiences in the world (I probably concluded that after my first stay!). Chiang Mai is a wonderful city to explore -- by tuk tuk or on foot -- but the 5 star hotels that people often mention are too far from the action. Rachamankha is perfectly located. It is large enough to offer full service at the highest level, but small enough for a serene atmosphere. I have found the service to be excellent and the breakfast in the beautiful courtyard delicious. Best of all, the place is gorgeous.
