“Immerse yourself in pure happiness and indulgence...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2011

For a few years already, we expected to experience Rachamankha but at any time, we finally decided to stay at The Chedi Chiang Mai… Such a mistake to miss Rachamankha so many times cause our recent stay has exceeded all our expectations.

Discreetly located into a manicured and so romantic garden, right in the middle of the old city, in one of these charming "soi", Rachamankha is a gem of elegance. Rarely we found a place so special with a real atmosphere. It's not one of these standard luxury hotels but clearly a house with a spirit perfecty decorated by one of the most famous Thai designer and art collector. Each room, each courtyard, each corner of this amazing property is simply remarkable and sincerely beautiful. You can't stop to look at each detail and everything is so exceptional a simple walk in the hotel is becoming a perfect enjoyment for the eyes.

We stayed in the room #3 which is a Superior room, the first category, but don't worry, even this category is already great. With a size of 35 sq. meters, you'll feel so relaxed and all the positive energy coming from the heart of this property will help you to release all your stress. The bed is over comfortable, the fantastic pieces of antiques, again, give a warm atmosphere and having a bath in the small but adorable bathroom is a moment not to be missed (the lavender amenities are really good). There is almost no complain but since we're demanding travelers, we would like to have better blind curtains not to be awake by the sun in the morning and a wifi working a bit better… But these details are nothing in this world of perfection.

Actually, even if Chiang Mai is a paradise for Art lovers, even if there is so much to see outside, it's pretty hard to escape from the hotel. What can you expect better than having a nice glass of chilled white wine next to the marvelous pool, just listening the birds singing or reading a good book on the impressive library where you can enjoy a complimentary glass of brandy or trying an excellent Thai massage in the pavilion overlooking the pool… Rachamankha itself deserves a trip to Chiang Mai and we can't wait to go back again in March. I re-arranged the trip just to spend a few nights in this outstanding place… It means a lot…

And again, no need to search for having a yummy dinner… the food at the restaurant is simply delicious. Don't miss the chillies stuffed with a tasty minced pork meat. The best tables are probably in the courtyard which is the most charming place for a romantic time. Candles, flowers and a quiet relaxing local music give a true character and an irresistible charm to this place. We fall in love….

A word about the staff, more a family actually cause all of the people making of Rachamankha such a wonderful place are so kind, so nice, always with a nice word. They know how to be attentive and discreet and the manager of this beautiful house, Paul, is a very friendly guy, not this kind of pretentious GM we hate. He's just the friendliest and nicest person we met and he's managing Rachamankha perfectly.

Congratulations from the deep part of our heart… Our stay was magical and we don't find a word strong enough to recommend to choose Rachamankha for a stay in Chiang Mai. There is not a better place for sure…

Room Tip: All rooms have a specific character and a great charm but for more indulgence book the suite 26

A beautiful hotel. Stayed for my brother's wedding and could not have had a more perfect venue. Everything arranged perfectly by the excellent and friendly manager, Paul. A strong recommendation- a tranquil oasis in this charming city.

An architectural gem in Northern Thai Lanna style, with beautifully planted courtyards and interiors heavily influenced by Chinese design, antique furniture and porcelain. The Rachamankha is truly an oasis within the old city of Chiang Mai.

We stayed in a Deluxe room which was beautifully appointed. The room only had a rather small shower, no bath, which was a little disappointing.

Staff were very friendly and most helpful, although there were a few miscommunications at times. Mostly, though, there were no issues. Paul Walker, the General Manager, was also most friendly.

The food at breakfast and in the restaurant was very good. The Thai food was excellent. Service was always friendly.

We were there for Loy Krathong festival and received some advice on places to go on request, but found better advice in a local free publication picked up at a shop. However, we would suggest that, for such occasions, management could issue a written guide with
map to assist guests.

Overall, a very pleasant place to stay. We spent six nights in total and were sad to leave.

I can only give Rachamankha my highest recommendations. So much so, that we chose this hotel above all others to host our wedding. It is clear from the moment you enter, the atmosphere is serene and the care and attention to the design is exquisite. Each room is beautifully appointed with classic period furniture yet still retaining a homely and unstuffy feel. There is a stunning library and a great pool too and all of this is located most centrally in Chiang Mai. This together with the friendly atmosphere and great food makes Rachamankha a truly unique hotel. It made our choice to host our wedding at Rachamankha an easy one.

Paul and his team must be congratulated for the constant help and assistance they gave us in coordinating and managing our wedding. Though my wife used to live in Chiang Mai, the help and knowledge of the guys at Rachamankha was indispensable. They helped us create a very tailored day, starting with a traditional Lanna ceremony in the day leading onto Thai and Jazz musicians in the evening. Our guests had come from all over the world as well as locally and the feedback was always most positive. Our food followed a Kad Mua concept, with a variety of excellent dishes the guests could pick and choose themselves. Guests both Thai and overseas consistently commented on the excellent standard of the food.

With Paul's help the wedding day passed beautifully. Our 5 day stay will alway remain one of the most memorable stays our family has ever had. In every respect, I can comfortably say Rachamankha deserves a top ranking.

Room Tip: Every room is carefully put together with unique pieces in each of the rooms we stayed in. We did ho...

I was born in Chiangmai so I wanted to celebrate a traditional Lanna wedding with close friends and families. We had guests coming from not only Bangkok but also from US, Australia and Singapore. We chose Rachamankha for the exclusive and intimate appeal. We were well taken care of by Paul and his team of dedicated and experienced staff. They handled all aspects of our wedding perfectly. We live in Singapore so having a professional team to plan and execute our wedding allows us to spend more time taking care of our friends and family during their visit to Chiangmai rather than following up on every details of wedding. We only arrived two days before the wedding and we only had one meeting with the hotel team a day before.

Everyone had a great time at our wedding and all enjoyed their stay in Rachamankha. We took a suite and it was wonderful. My parents in law love the decor. My friends love all aspects of hotel especially the architecture and interior of the hotel room. Service is excellent and also with smiles. It feels so tranquil and relaxing walking around the hotel. We all felt like home during our stay that weekend.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, couples and families.

Room Tip: I would go for suites for family and deluxe rooms for couples Everyone is so impressed by the lov...

we stayed 4 nights after a very disappointing night in the novotel. The place is beautiful and has so much style. the rooms are not 5 star but are spotless and have a real thai feel to them. it was great to have the seating areas to relax in the evening. the pool area was just beautiful, as was the library. the staff were amazing as was the attention to detail. a story i tell all my friends is sitting by the pool and a leaf falling from a tree, immediately someone appeared from nowhere and cleared it up, the same happened to your towels if you went back to your room for 5 mins. fiinally we had to leave before breakfast, so they packed us a great little breakfast with chips and sandwiches to take with us. we still treasure the bag they put it in and will never forget our stay at the rach
