This Wat is so peaceful. There is something quite special about this underground temple and its surrounding.

Not as beautiful as other temples but an amazing history and the uniqueness of the tunnel shrines make it more than worth the visit. Just seeing the ancient temple and then visiting the many shrines underground make it worth seeing. Lots of chickens and roosters walking around!

If you think you have seen all kinds of temples already, Umong might surprise you. The actual temple is within a labyrinth of tunnels (well, no way you will get lost in there). The temple grounds were packed with people on a Sunday and everyone seemed to have a great time. You can also cross the pond and feed the fish.

We had the pleasure to had a talk with a monk in English who told us in a very insightful, even entertaining way more about the basics of Buddhism, followed by a Q&A and then a group meditation.

This was the best temple I visited in Chiang Mai. Amazing setting in a small forest, with a lake in the middle. You can buy food from the monks to feed the fish! I saw a sign saying they have sessions on Sunday where foreign monks talk about buddism, so it could be worth checking those out.
