Unfortunately the advertising belies reality. We found the room overpriced & not clean...dirty floors/ pillows smelt / bed linen stained.
All the staff seemed to be asleep or close to it.
Have never done a bad review before but "Galare"just failed on all fronts.

Situated right next to the river, away from the bustle of downtown, it's a lovely little guest house. Friendly staff, good clean rooms, wifi and average breakfast. A short walk across the bridge to the riverside bars, or 5-10 minutes to the inner walls. Absolutely no complaints.

Lovely, cold, efficient air conditioning was so welcome after returning from outings each day. All the decor is rather dated but this part of the charm of Galare. Room was clean, big and comfortable. Free water provided and available as well from a chilled water filter on the verandah which was great to see. Wifi was a bit slow at times which was frustrating but it always came back up to speed after a whole. Dining area which overlooks the river is lovely and the staff charming and efficient. Peaceful and cool garden area with seating. The family who run Galare are very helpful and speak very good English which is always a great help. They will provide you with a map of the area and can make bookings for tickets etc on your behalf for a small fee. Will also provide cheap transport to the station. Taxis and tuk tuks May be unsure of where Galare is because it's tucked away down a laneway off a busy road so make sure you have the map and/or the address with you. Expect to pay 150 baht from the bus or train station even though they aren't far.

Marvelous popular budget accommodation with very friendly honest easy going and hard working staff.(a few baht is considerate for them) It is a very short walk from Galare to some of the best food and Jazz in the old city if you like to stroll and take in the sights or cheap as chips if the Galare calls a tuktuk. Advice is to take a card or two from the office for your taxi drivers to get you home quickly.

Best masaman curry ever in the guest house restaurant. Rooms are clean. Generally quiet. Helpful staff. Free cold water. Close to Night Market. Nice walk to downtown. Massage shop right down end of street. Nice lady does laundry across the soi from guest house.

Room Tip: Consider the ones beside reception for additional light.

Nice hotel situated in a quiet area on the riverbank with friendly knowledgeable staff. Rooms were large and comfortable and spread over two floors with balconies (no lifts). There is a nice garden area to sit or lounge and another on the riverbank. The restaurant overlooks the river, it has a limited menu but the food was very good and the beers cold.
Recommended.

This hotel feels like home. The staff was super helpful and friendly and all spoke very good English. The rooms have that homey feel to them and while the facility is older, it's very clean. The beds are a little stiff but that's the only negative I can think of (and I don't mind stiff beds anyway). The rooms have A/C. The hotel is within walking distance of the old city (where all the old temples are) and just around the corner from the night bazaar (the night market) so it has a great location.
