Another stunning temple. The intricate gold designs are awesome. We were privileged to be there when a wedding was taking place. It was just beautiful! The Buddhist chanting by the monks conducting the service was moving. My husband was so moved he had tears in his eyes. The wedding service was simple but so spiritual. The Buddhist quotes in the garden are thought provoking.

The Wat is well worth a visit as the Buddah images are really stunning and the whole temple is quite charming.

We were lucky enough to visit at a time when the head monk was chanting and the congregation was chanting in response to his prayers. We had only intended to visit for a short period of time but the temple was so tranquil and peaceful that we sat for 45 minutes listening to the proceedings.

Whilst we were in Chiang Mai we had a temple morning and it is quite easy to visit all the three main temples by simply hoping into the waiting tuk-tuks and asking the driver to take you to your next choice (50 -80 Baht per trip). One word of warning if the tuk-tuk driver offers you a free or very cheap ride if you visit some shops ignore them and take a different ride (unless you are particularly keen to waste your holiday providing the driver with commission).

A lovely wat, but then, most of them are, and there are MANY in Chiang Mai's old city. Don't like a particular wat? Walk another 20 feet and see how you like the next one.

For this reason, Phra Singh isn't anything *too* special. It is nice, but Chedi Luang captured my heart more, with its marriage of old and new. Phra Singh has nice, serene grounds around the wat, which is anything but serene. Hordes of tourists disembark from a variety of vehicles (mostly huge buses, unfortunately), and flood the wat. A group of them went around the back and started ringing the gong (!!!), which furthered the feeling of tourist-saturation. We're all tourists, but sometimes huge driveby groups aren't always the most respectful, and wat phra singh had the share of the city of those during my visit.

Visit a quieter wat for a better experience or just visit the grounds.

Stunning, you'd be in awe of the intricate beauty of the temples and the surrounding seating area and gardens.

I did not have long to spend in my brief tour of Wat Phra Singh, but I was impressed sheer beauty of the place. Well worth a visit, and in my case a much longer visit on my next trip to Chiang Mai.
