The temple is right in the middle of the city and it is very convenient for the Sunday walking street. To go there, I suggest it's best to have tour guide so you will get more information and history.

It's easy to walk by this one and not realize you are walking by one of the wats that you must visit in Chiang Mai. Go early or late in the day when the light is great and the crowds are few. As many reviewers point out, the chedi is spectacular but the real treat is that you are encouraged to interact with the monks. Both of course are much better enjoyed without lots of crowds.

This one well worth a gentle quiet look around, even when templed out in Chiang Mai. The monks were singing in new temple and lovely to sit and slow down. Then out to discover the amazing ancient Wat Chedi Luang at the back - fascinating contrast.

A wonderful Wat. Full of history and very sacred. A very moving and very much underrated . I was humbled just taking in the surrounds. So many Wats in Chiang Mai. This one is my pick as a spectacular site drenched in spender

Wat Chedi Luang, while interesting as a sight, is not the best part of a visit there. We spoke for 40 minutes with two Laotian monks who were studying at Wat Chedi Luang. For me, that was the highlight of our visit to this temple. Don't miss Monk Talk if you visit Wat Chedi Luang. You will help the monks to improve their English, and you will discover a way of life that may be new to you.
