I stayed at Tamarind village for three night in December 11-14, 2013. This place completely tranquil boutique resort typical Lanna style located at the center of Chiang Mai old town which you can reach to many tourist attraction like Wat Pra Singh, Wat Chedi Luang or other temples nearby the hotel where you can walk or take or rent the bicycle. There are many shop, bar, restaurants which you can walk around and very easy to reach.

At the time we reach to the hotel, the staff are ready to assist us and gave us fresh towel as well as the welcome drink . This is my first impression with the services that we received from the front staff. One man in particular Mr. Saksit was exceptional with great smile. Other staff also great in what they were doing.

The breakfast served at the Ruen Tamarind located nearby the swimming pool which there are variety choices of food and again the staff seem to have a great pride in what they are producing and it shows. I really appreciated for their services.

Our room was lanna room so the room a bit small but we were acceptably with that size. The hotel provided very good smelling of bathroom amenities which we enjoyed a lot with those spa type amenities. As long as I know that bathroom amenities from Erb spa product. There is no bathtub for this type of room.

The hotel provided free unlimited WiFi with stable signal so no need to worry about the internet connect.

The bed provided are really comfortable .When we come back to chiang mai I would probably stay here again.

We rented several rooms for several nights for our wedding guests. The service was warm and excellent. The rooms are beautiful- full of rich woods, textiles, lovely old photos, gentle lighting. The gardens are really special- well managed but not overly manicured. The huge old trees give plenty of shade and amazing white orchids are everywhere. Breakfast around the pool was very nice. The Spa is very nice but frankly it is overpriced given the many other excellent Spas and massage places in Chiang Mai.This is a quiet hotel- not a place for drunkenness or parties- but perfect for a romantic getaway or a special vacation with friends. Highly recommended!

My husband and I stayed here with our two children, 5 and 3 years. It is a beautiful hotel with attentive and welcoming staff. We stayed in a Lanna Deluxe in the back of the resort and found it to have enough space for our family of four. It is ample room for a couple. The rooms are dark but for us that was conducive to a restful sleep. The pool is beautiful and the grounds are tranquil. It is well located and quiet. The hotel is geared toward couples and the walls are thin so keep this in mind when travelling with little people. The staff were extremely welcoming to our family and readily engaged our children with a cheerful sawadee kap every morning. There are also fun little activities in the afternoon which we found enjoyable.

We stayed here 2 years ago and fell in love with Tamarind Village, only to revisit it and fell in love all over again. Great service, food and spa treatments, this time we did the village walk on the Sunday morning which was great. Thanks to every staff member that were there to make our time special again, and the flowers at dinner on our last night topped off our perfect stay.Last time we stayed in a suite, but this time we had the Lanna deluxe which was fine, great bathroom, people have complained about room size and darkness, but we found that this was no issue for us. We only used our room to sleep in, we layed around the pool, and the old city has so much to explore that we were out and about a lot, as we were there to enjoy Yee Peng.

After a week in Hanoi, we wanted a more relaxed pace and there's no doubt the Tamarind offers a fantastic escape from the outside world.
The staff were incredibly helpful, even offering to dry out my wife's shoes after a sudden downpour we got caught in! They hold daily activities for the guests and any available staff come and join in too, all to a really nice, fun atmosphere.
The bad point for us was the noise factor; we were woken early one day by some sweeping outside and the plumbing is quite noisy, as it was in the adjacent room too. Usually this would be a major problem to me as I'm a light sleeper, but the rest of the hotel was so good, it pretty much negated the noise issue. The addition of the world's most confused rooster down the road didn't help things as it clearly couldn't tell the time!
We stayed there (15th November - 21st November) over the festivities, so there was a load of fireworks going off regularly anyway that would've been noisy in any hotel!
Location is brilliant, we walked everywhere and only got the occasional tuktuk back after a long day which would only cost about £1.50.
Free WiFi in all areas of the hotel was a great bonus too.
Breakfast is really nice, we didn't actually get to eat in the hotel later in the day as we were out and about & there's an abundance of places to eat all around Chiang Mai.
The laundry charges were the cheapest I've ever known for a hotel, so it's worth bearing that in mind when you're packing!
In summary, this place does have it's negatives for light sleepers like me, but the positives highly outweigh those and our stay was truly memorable.
