“Beautifully relaxing”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

We stayed for 3 nights of our honeymoon, timed our stay over a weekend as the night markets were on the door step :) Beautiful boutique accommodation, loved the room & bathroom with copper basin. Grounds are well kept, with resident squirrel in the big tree. Fabulous breakfast, dinner was expensive was delicious. The pool looked inviting but as it's right in front of the restuarant swimmers were on show of an afternoon/evening and and during the day it's in full sun, so no swimming for us. Wouldn't be suitable for noisy swimming kids. Great central spot in the old quarter, quiet and relaxing. Staff were very helpful and happy to be so. Took a while to check in and out.

Our family stayed at the Tamarind Village for 4 nights. It is a beautiful boutique hotel ideally situated in Chiang Mai. Everything about our stay was perfect - the room was a good size and nicely furnished, the breakfast, which was included, was delicious and the staff were all very helpful.

My husband and I stayed at the Tamarind Village for 3 nights in February and loved it. It is a small boutique hotel in the centre of the historic walled town. You can walk to most sights from the hotel and loads of bars and restauarants (although in 33 degrees and with the pavements of the main road being dug up this was a little challenging at times!) The rooms are beautiful, quiet and well appointed. Good shower, towels, bed linen etc and complimentary water. Breakfasts were delicious and the pool area very relaxing in the heat of the afternoon. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the complimentary 10 minute back and shoulder massage in the spa was very good. The Sunday night market which runs right outside the hotel was one of the best markets we went to.

Room Tip: Choose a deluxe lana room on the 2nd floor with balcony overlooking the ancient Tamarind tree that t...

We booked this hotel for our honeymoon trip to Thailand. This hotel felt like a resort in the middle the city. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully decorated in the traditional Lanna style. Staff is incredible and we were greeted with a welcome drink, and candles and flowers in our hotel room. The breakfast buffet is also fantastic. A lot of food choices to pick from that includes continental and hot items. We also liked the little activities that the hotel provided. We participated in the bamboo weaving and made bamboo fans. They also have complimentary hand massages in the afternoon where you can try their aromatherapy oils. We walked everywhere from this hotel. The night market is a 15 minute walk and Wat Chedi Luang is just around the corner. There are also a lot of restaurant options in the area. Be sure to explore the alleyways around the hotel as there are a lot of hidden gems around. We would definitely stay here again.

My parents and I stayed three days at Tamarind Village during our trip to Chiang Mai in Feb.
The hotel is as beautiful as the pictures are. The service is good. The hotel restaurant made exquisite food, although the price is quite expensive in Chiang Mai standard.
The Sunday market is actually just in front of the hotel and it's close to everywhere within the old city.
It feels absolutely peaceful, although you could hear the chanting of monks next door on some days and the Sunday market buzzle on Sunday night and the rooster in the early morning.
My only complaint actually is - actually it's not a complaint for the hotel - the taxi they called for us when we moved from Tamarind to another hotel in the suburb, Taxi No. 172 - the driver of Taxi No.172 is the most terrible Taxi driver I ever met!!!
I think he's name is something like Boonsong.
He took us to the wrong gate of the hotel where there's construction blocking our way and unloaded our luggage and started to go, and we tried to argue with him to find the real entrance and the hotel owner also came out to argue with him - he just need to make a turn about 50 meters, but he refused to up-load our luggage again and just shouted to get his money and gone!
So anyone who goes to Chiang Mai, never get into Taxi No.172! (The driver actually looks like a bad guy before he approves to be one!)

Room Tip: second floor rooms are cooler and has less mosquito.

From the moment I arrived in the hotel, I felt incredibly relaxed. It's an ideal location to explore central Chiang Mai, but the hotel is surprisingly tranquil despite being a few seconds from the hustle. The trees and the pool are beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, the staff is very thoughtful, and the breakfast is great.

One thing to consider---the bathroom is connected to the room through a saloon door, so it's not the most private experience if you are sharing the room with another person. All in all, though, this was one of my favorite stays of all time.

My wife and I have just returned from our first visit to Thailand. After a hectic stay in Bangkok, we flew to beautiful Chiang Mai. The Tamarind Village was recommended by our agent and we were delighted with our few days there. The location is ideal for both city rambling and country touring. The hotel itself is a wonderful place to stay, so quiet and calm yet right in the centre of things. It was like being on retreat in a 5 star monastery! The staff were first class and the food lovely. We would definitely recommend this boutique hotel.
