So my boyfriend and I stumbled across this place after escaping a less than successful meditation retreat and I must say we were immediately impressed. When we arrived without any prior booking we were greeted by a lovely man in stilettos who was instantly hospitable and eager to impress. We booked a twin bed room which was very tidy and included clean linen, a fan and towels. The bathrooms are shared but they're well maintained and bountiful so you never have to wait to use them. The food here is also reasonable, but because it's situated near the night markets and a strip of restaurants you end up spoiled for choice. However, mostly it was the atmosphere of this place that I loved. The people who work here are very friendly and frequently throw parties for their guests with live music, food and alcohol so everyone here gets to know each other quite well and socialize. They were also knowledgeable and were able to give us great advice about where to go next and what to see. Overall, we had a fantastic time and would recommend this place to travelers who are searching for a good time and an opportunity to meet new and interesting people :)

Excellent location, really low prices, and the rooms are seriously clean and modern. I walked seven hours around old town looking and comparing guest houses. Don't waste your time, I can guarantee two places: for dorm style hostel shared living, only go to little bird guest house by thapae gate. For private rooms, Ton Hug is the place to be. The single bed fan room cost me 150 baht a night, it was clean and modern with just the right amount of furnishings, and you can easily make friends with the owners.
If you can find them.
The only drawback is that there is no receptionist. But don't worry, just grab the phone that's sitting there and dial the number posted on the counter. Either Ton or his brother Top will be with you in a jiffy. This place is cool like that.
I stayed for a week and loved it.

We stayed at 3 people in a room for 2 and we just got charged 50 baths more. Fair. The room was clean. Can be "noisy" (depending on your neighbour)
Good location inside the old city. Just one street away from the sunday market.
Laundry service.
Ton was a funny guy
