We chose the Rawee Waree hotel because it was away from the City. We spent 6 nights there just to relax and then 4 in the City amongst the chaos. It is unfortunate that the hotel is placed next to a major highway where traffic passes day and night but you get used to it and eventually ignore it. There is a development under construction across the Ping River which at present is noisy but when completed should then be a lot quieter, also Thai karaoke is an acquired taste and having such a bar on the other side of the highway was a bit distracting until midnight but before then we were fast asleep. There is an ominous plot of land that has been cleared between the Hotel and the highway and has been made ready for some construction or other but as of the end of 2013 there was no sign of what will be constructed. Except for the first day when we visited the local hills to see some waterfalls, we never left the Hotel compound, as I said previously we were there to relax and spent the 6 days by the pool reading. The hotel was not overly busy and there was never hustle and bustle even over Christmas. The restaurant serves very good Thai, Chinese and Indian food, it is well presented and the staff give excellent and attentive service without being "in your face", if you want them they are at you beck-and-call otherwise they are discreetly standing in the shadows. If you like wine with your meal on a regular basis then you ought to have deep pockets as a bottle will set you back 5,000 to 7,000 Bht - don't know why because in the City it is a lot cheaper. Breakfast is excellent no matter what your taste and omelettes, scrambled eggs and pancakes are cooked to order on the terrace. Always excellent coffee or tea and plenty of it. Our room was spacious and cool without using the air con' though it was Christmas time but then the temperature was still low 70's. The Staff were attired in their smart winter garb and they found it quite amusing as we sat by the pool all day in shorts and teeshirt soaking up[ the sun. As mentioned in other reviews, always carry the address of the hotel and a map because the local taxi and tuk-tuk drivers don't always understand the English translation of the Hotel name and address, not even from the airport. We would go back to the Rawee Waree but it is a long way to travel from the UK just for that reason.
