“Quiet little home stay”
Reviewed January 20, 2014 via mobile

Nine house is located near the corner of Chiang Mai old city. As what mentioned by all the previous reviewer, the owner (Tim and Nok) is definitely the star of this homestay. They are always ready to help. Since Tim is a local in Chiang Mai, he can be very informative when it comes to advice on traveling or food hunting (must-try superb Thai food around this area. Most of the nice restaurant do not have English menu or even English restaurant sign board.) For being dog lover, we did enjoy the company of their friendly dogs (DC, Char Kuew and Gor Gor). Location wise, nine house is about 2km to sat night market, 3km to daily night market, 500m to sun night market, 4km to cm zoo. I like the location as it is less tourist-crowded as compared to Huay Kaew road.

The best memory of our trip to Chiang Mai is our stay in Nine House. During our week there, Tin and his family were totally dedicated to make our stay as nice as possible. Most friendly and knowledgeable, Tin has a lot to share about his past experiences including as a tourist guide. The hotel is very clean, modern and operational. Our VIP bedroom was great as well as the morning breakfast. The place is conveniently located at walking distance from tourist attractions, malls and has easy exit from downtown. Next to the hotel several services including restaurants and motorcycle rental. All in all, a very enjoyable, relaxing and highly recommend stay!

Nine House and our host, Tin, were the best part of our stay in Chiang Mai. The room was large and comfortable, the breakfast was great and our host was beyond kind. When a taxi hired for went awry, our host who had called for the taxi felt heartsick for us. It was his kindness and concern that saved the day. The room was spacious and cool. The beds were firm but good after climbing the Wats. There were some English channels on TV and we did not leave in the mornings hungry. I would highly recommend this guest house for anyone traveling to Angkor.

We stayed at the Nine House for three and a half weeks, and used it for our starting point for other travels, always coming back here, and we always looked forward to coming back. The host and owner and his wife are very friendly and helpful, and they run a very clean guest house.

The mattresses are hard, but after staying in five other places during our trip we found out that this is pretty standard in Thailand; in fact several other places had much harder beds and we looked forward to coming back to Nine House and its relatively softer one.

Breakfast every morning was delicious, fresh towels every day, air conditioning and nice sized rooms and bathrooms. Each room had a flat screen TV, although we never turned it on. The House has an access control feature after hours, and the area is otherwise very safe.

Immediately across the street is a bicycle/scooter rental with very fare rates, and two doors down is a self-service laundry. There are several places to eat or get coffee just a short walk down the Soi.

Be sure to use the address when catching a tuk tuk or a cab to the location, as there is another place with a similar name. For those who don't know Thai addresses, Soi 3 means the third side street or alley off of the main road (in this case Singharat). Once we understood that navigation was much easier.

We stayed in one of the pricier rooms, as the 'standard' ones were all booked. The room is spacious and clean, and the A/C very quiet. The mattress was hard and not very comfy. A couple of the towels were quite stained - a soak in bleach would be good. The breakfast was nice and staff very friendly. We'd definitely stay again!

We stayed 3 weeks in Chiang Mai over the Loi Krathong/Yi Peng festivals (sky lanterns, floating lights). We stuck to the city centre and surrounds and still ran out of time.A highlight of our trip was our stay in Ninehouse. We couldnt hope to meet with kinder or more sensitive hosts. On our first day, we overslept due to jetlag and came downstairs at 11:30am, of course not expecting to get breakfast served to us. To our astonishment, Kun Nok said she was going to give us breakfast anyway! And it was a superbly healthy breakfast, with so much choice, that one could easily make any breakfast of choice with a subset. We are already planning our next trip to Chiang Mai and it will be at Ninehouse.

Stayed here for 4 nights, paid 550 a night for a standard room. Room was very clean, breakfast was good, I was told they were fully booked but was very quiet, the location is good in the old city, The owner even gave me a free ride to the airport when I left. Only little thing was the bed was pretty hard, but no different than most other places. I'd be very surprised if you weren't satisfied with your stay here!!
