What a great score for me on my first trip to Chiang Mai for the Yi Peng Festival! Villa Long Chang is a 3 room guest house with over 100 years of history and has been totally renovated. This quaint hotel opened its doors in Oct 2012 and has all of the modern amenities seasoned travelers have come to appreciate. Clean, comfortable beds, hot roomy showers, air conditioning, wifi and just a few steps away from the Night Market making the location fantastic. Each of the 3 rooms have a veranda and are located on the 2nd floor. The veranda is a great place to sit and unwind from a day of activity. The staff are all pleasant, vibrant, proud of their establishment and city. Eager to please and definitely wanting to make sure you, their guest enjoys all there is in Chiang Mai. Breakfast (really more a continental breakfast) is included and is going through some growing pains. Being a vegetarian myself, it is not what they were use to. There are many restaurants within walking distance allowing one to experience a variety of foods including the all familiar local "Carts".
If the need to have several choices of restaurants and bars within the hotel itself with a modern designer motif then I would suggest this is not the place for you. Then again should you be looking for basic down to earth taste of the Chiang Mai and...What a great score for me on my first trip to Chiang Mai for the Yi Peng Festival! Then again should you be looking for basic down to earth taste of the Chiang Mai and Lanna culture then Villa Long Chang could be for you. I look forward to visiting again next year as I have confirmed my reservation already!More
