Owner description: In this trip at " Wang Thong " we will be walking in dense tropical jungle surrounded by many varieties of tall and short trees all in a delicate untouched natural ecosystem. It is in this setting that you will abseil yourself down the limestone waterfall. Consider yourself lucky as you are one of very few people who will have ever done such a thing here, But it doesn't end there because at the bottom of the waterfall there is a natural "Jacuzzi ". The water is very pure and clean here...so after an adrenalin rushed abseil down you can "chillax" at the bottom. Sounds awesome huh

We did the Cliff No. 5 Adventure and very much enjoyed it. The drive to the waterfall takes a bit over an hour along nice scenery. When you get there, you first get instructions on how to abseil and then you descend a small waterfall (we did it during the rainy season, but there was not a lot of water coming down, but it was still great). At the bottom of the falls you dive into the water... so you will get soaking wet. Afterwards you hike through a rainforest (very nice, but there is lots of mozzies). The Highlight is the white waterfall at the end, which is spectacular. We loved it. We then had lunch (fruit and pasta). I am not sure if this is the official end of the day, because we had to cut it short to take one of the participants to hospital. She had slipped on the rocks and seriously hurt herself and that brings me to why I can only give 4 stars...

Neither the brochure nor the guides prepare you adequately.

1. If you want to go on this adventure, you need to wear HIKING boots. NOT sandals (most people were wearing sandals... I had sneakers on and hurt my ankles a couple of times). It is very rocky and slippery. Wear your hiking boots and be prepared that they will get soaking wet like all your other clothes. So take another set of dry clothes with you!

2. Take mosquito spray. Spraying it on you before you start your adventure and then leaving it in the car (as advised) is not a good idea as you will get soaked after 5 minutes (then all the repellent is washed off and you need to trek 45 min. through the rainforest surrounded my mozzies. So spray yourself AFTER you have descended down the falls (ask the guides to put the mozzie spray into their dry bag).

If you want to take your child, I would say it needs to be at least 7 or 8 and understand English. The guides give their instructions in English while descending down the falls with the child and you won't be able to translate during that time. Also hiking boots for the child and re-consider, if you are visiting in the middle of the wet season, because there is a lot of mozzies around the area.

That being said: it is a great adventure, the guides were very friendly and I would highly recommend it (only with appropriate footwear though).

Four of us went on Cliff 5 adventure - the day from start to finish was great! The drive into the mountainous jungle on the bumpy dirt road proved we were in a hidden local spot. Even the trekking into the jungle later that day on a less traveled trail again proved this was a secret place; a true gem of untouched nature - beautiful!

Our guides Day and Kwang were very knowledge and friendly. Safety is the number one concern and they teach you what to look for to insure safety at other places. This waterfall is 15meters. We each repelled down at our own pace. Wow, what an experience! Our guides let us repel again - this time we could leap off the lower part of the falls into the pool below. The water was quite chilly but the experience was amazing!!

The trek into the jungle was peaceful. The white waterfall we came upon was amazing! **A word to the wise - take your shoes off before getting them wet!** We climbed up the waterfall with ease, stopping to play and take photos along the way. Our guides were patient and allowed us to take the day at our own pace.

I highly recommend this company!! This was my favorite day of my 5 days in Chiang Mai!

Yesterday I took the tour with Jesada and Jo Joe, it was by far the best thing I have done in Thailand. Both the guys have many years experience and fill you with confidence even as a first time climber. I was able to steer away from heavily tourist areas and able to see the real Chiang Mai. Great scenery, fantastic company and knowledge from the leaders and incredible waterfalls. I would recommend this in a heartbeat guys. ( my first ever review of a trip- yes it was that Good)
