“Outstanding! Don't think about it - just GO!”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

This is a review for Pun Pun's restaurant which they have opened in Chiang Mai city, which is actually now called "Imm Aim". No idea why they changed their name - the signs to the restaurant still say Pun Pun!

This was the best food we ate in Chiang Mai. Incredible flavours, lots of new things and flavours to try (coconut shoot and banana blossom salads were wonderful! the burrito looked insanely good!) and amazingly good smoothies (pineapple lime and avocado! young coconut and cinnamon!). It's all farm-to-table fresh. Even though it's all vegetarian, some dishes were incredibly rich and complex. Nothing costs more than a couple of bucks. The waitstaff were a delight. There's a cute little shop selling handmade things as well.

It was a tiny bit difficult to find - but we just asked the driver to go to the YMCA (which is huge and everybody knows it) and then it's a 45 second walk straight up the street from there. Oh, and the kitchen closes at 8pm on the dot, so make sure you get there before then.

Don't leave Chiang Mai without going there at least once!

“Nice atmosphere, good range of food”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

Lovely environment for the cafe in the temple grounds, under the banyan tree, and the menu has a really huge range of food which is cooked fresh to order.
Everything is veggie but most things seemed to have eggs so you have to be careful if you are vegan. We ordered something we thought would be ok but it turned up with a fried egg on the plate with it!
However, all the food we tried was very tasty, the service was friendly, and we'd recommend it that and for the peaceful environment.

“Good atomosphere in a Thai Temple premise.”

Veggie restaurants in Chiang Mai are very rare. They have a good variety in their menu. I love here.

“Best Value Vegetarian on Planet Earth”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

Pun Pun is an institution and a lifestyle and if the owners were greedy they would become a logo. But they are not and they just chug along presenting the tastiest best value vegetarian anywhere. The restaurant is an enterprise of Pun Pun Sustainable Living Center and Organic Farm. They grow the ingredients that the cook so much of the ingredients are farm to table.

Many people come for the salads, the flower salad is beautifully presented and is both tasty and healthy. My personal favorite is the banana heart salad though the wing bean salad is a close second. It is a favorite of long term residents.

It is great value. Most meals are between 40 to 70 baht. The quality and taste are outstanding.

A word must be said about the location. It seems like an unlikely spot for a restaurant and some have found it hard to find. So here is how you find it. Go to Wat Suan Dok. Go past the big viharn with the big Buddha statue. Keep going and you will see Monk Chat. Go past there and take the first right, go a few steps and you will see the beautiful Bodhi tree. There it is. Tables are set up around the Bodhi Tree (the tree under which the Buddha was enlightened) at the very back of the Wat Suan Dok temple complex.

“Very Good Organic Food”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Very good tasty food and great organic veggie and fruit juices Very pleasant outdoor dining area.
An innovative menu, the coconut tofu steaks and the pomelo dish are great. I have been several times and always the service is fast and friendly and although i found one of the waitresses speaks very good english i never had a problem ordering with those who dont. The location behind a temple is a little hard to find but it is a tranquil atmosphere. I will go back again and highly recommend this restaurant even for those that are not vegans or vegetarians ...
