If you're in Chaing Mai for the food, this is your spot - Around the corner from the world-famous Chaing Mai Night Food Market. They've got hot water, A/C and clean sheets. If you're traveling into town, take a red taxi bus. Closest exchange is 5 mins away, by cab, and closes at 10pm.

We enjoyed our stay at Buaraya Hotel. Parking space is ample. The location is great and convenient to walk around the downtown Chiang Mai. There are plenty of restaurants and food stall in front of hotel, including several convenient stores. This is not the hotel you will spend all day chilling out. It's just a cheap and clean hotel so you can conveniently explore the city center.

Breakfast is quite poor and nothing to talk about but you can find many alternatives in front of hotel.

Stayed here for 5 nights whilst in Chiang Mai and choose it mainly for the price and central location (we wanted to stay close to the Old City). After reading a few bad reviews we werent sure what to expect but were pleased to find helpful and smiley staff and a very clean, if somewhat dated, room. Our room was clean and had some nice touches.

The communal area's are much the same and have decent CCTV covering the hallways which was nice to see as we knew we wouldnt be staying at the hotel for one night. There were no problems with security in any case.

The wifi worked fine for me and I would certainly go back.

Good but has Potential to be better

Just misses the very good mark. Pluses: New remodeled comfortable rooms, and beds, good air conditioning, both tub and shower together, good lobby, very good front desk personnel. Location good to visit zoo and shopping areas, out of city North West Areas and Sunday walking street, not far from restaurants and easy transportation.

Areas for improvement: Room should have been ready, with hot water checked, no hot water, but fixed when reported next day to maintenance. Housekeeping missed hairs on floor different locations in 2 days of room makeups. Lamps not plugged in, no shelves yet in closet, and 3 hangers. Shower cable too short and had to stoop to use. Breakfast weak compared to other hotels in price class, dishes had little flavor and omelet eggs to order average, breads and variety overall needs improvement.

I booked in at this hotel for me and my boyfriend for a 3 night stay. I chose it based on the other reviews and because it seemed to be good value.
The hotel is in a good location, about 15 minutes from the train station and on a main road which makes getting taxis and tuktuks really easy. Getting back to the hotel is also easy, all taxi drivers knew where the hotel was, although there was often a bit of confusion with pronunciation - I ended up taking lessons from a taxi driver to learn how to say it properly and after that the others understood me straight away!
The staff here are helpful, they booked a tour for us. They aren't the most friendly bunch of people though and don't really look too happy to be there, not very smiley.
The rooms are clean and spacious and 2 bottles of water are provided each day. They are basic though which means they lack some of the amenities that you might expect such as a kettle or hairdryer. Also, this might not be an issue for some, but the water was cold every time we showered. Well, not just cold, freezing. So cold that it took my breath away to stand under it and i felt cold for about 15 mins after even in the 30degrees heat! There is a hot tap but it didn't seem to be effective. Another thing is that the walls aren't very thick. On a few occasions I was woken up by next doors TV and people talking in the corridor.
We didn't pay for breakfast but did go down one morning. It costs 120baht per person and there was a bit of variety but it was mostly Asian dishes with the exception of toast, eggs and fruit. There was only one juice available too so not any choice if you don't drink tea or coffee.
