“Grerat Burgers”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

Run by Englishman Chris (who does not suffer fools or moaners gladly), this restaurant offers simple, well prepared farang and Thai dishes. Fish & chips are good, but for me the burgers are outstanding - and I don't go near burgers normally! These are clearly home made from excellent quality beef - not the Thai type best used for repairing your car tyres - and you can actually taste the beef and the seasoning (ever experienced that at MacDonalds? No....) The sausages and pies are bought in, but having tried them, I'd not bother again.

Good range of beers, and wine can be bought from Wine Connection next door. If you're in the area, give it a try.

“Best Beer Selection in Chiang Mai”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

I go often to Bistro 1 in Chiang Mai because it simply has the best import beer selection in town and some truly great food both Western and Thai. Owner Chris is a charming rascal from England and their staff are very attentive to all of your dining needs. Simply one of the brightest spots in Chiang Mai.

“Regular Visitor’s”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

We have been visiting Bistro1 regularly for the past couple of years, excellent food, both western and Thai, with a great choice of imported beers from Germany and UK. The food has been cooked consistency well each visit and Chris and his staff always remember just what we want and like. Try the spicy cashew nuts with well done chicken wings; combine two starters for a great meal. Our daughter says the nachos with a”lake of ketchup” are the best anywhere.

“Good little Bistro”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

Well located in the NIM City Daily complex, opposite Central Airport Plaza, with plenty of parking right outside.

A good little bistro, with tables outside and in the air-conditioned inside.

A special beer menu offering a huge range of Belgian and other imported beers at sensible prices. No wine available, but can be bought from nearby supermarket with a small corkage charge.

Extensive menu of Thai and Western food. The Spaghetti with anchovies and olives is an excellent starter. Main courses offer "comfort food" of liver and bacon, fabulous sausages, and a range of pies, as well as good quality beef steaks. Main courses are served with vegetables perfectly cooked, and a range of home-made sauces. The Thai fried rice with green curry is a particularly unusual and tasty local dish. Prices are all very reasonable, and portions large.

The mild eccentricity of the owner and host, Chris, add to a very enjoyable evening at this local bistro.
