We revisited the Empress & found it to be just as pleasant a stay as in the past.

Conveniently situated a 5 minute walk from the night market & just a 10 minute ride from the airport.

Staff are helpful, polite & very accomodating.

We love the beautiful flower arrangements that are displayed throughout the lobby, entrance & bathrooms.

The breakfast options are good & the juices were delicious.

My only critisism was that the breakfast mats were stained & grubby, which was definitely off putting, as they were uninviting & looked unhygenic.

I would revisit inspite of the fact that the hotel is a little tired looking.

The breakfast buffet at the Empress is excellent, and cheap, only 220 Baht. Large selection of fruits, foreign style breakfasts including Japanese and local Thai dishes. Also has a selection of cereals, yoghurt sand a huge choice of breads, pastries and jams or go with it.

We stayed for one night at the Empress. I wasn't sure what to expect, and was very surprised when we arrived to see what I consider a "western-style" hotel (very much like one you'd see in the US), with a large fancy lobby, and very large rooms. It was quite nice! The staff was helpful and we were even presented with a beautiful bunch of roses in our room. The location was great, and the breakfast buffet had many options. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: The "superior" room was large!

I stayed here for one night and have no complaints with the place. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays which my son enjoyed. Breakfast was good and it was an easy walk to the night market. I didn't check out the gym or the hotel's other facilities so I can't comment on that.

I stayed as part of a group and it was quite honestly one of the better hotels throughout the entire trip. Without a doubt there are nicer places in Chiang Mai but I was satisfied with my room and found the hotel to be in a great location.

Pros: #1 I thought the hotel had a great lunch buffet selection. There were items that appealed to a multitude of palates. #2 It was an easy walk to the main street and the night market. #3 If you choose not to get an expensive treatment at the hotel spa, there is a cheaper massage location less than a minute walk from the hotel. #4 I visited Chiang Mai around Christmastime and got a kick out of how dedicated the hotel was to decorating for the holidays.

Cons: #1 I found the mattress to be way too firm for my taste. The bed felt as hard as the floor.

Recommendations: #1 There is a small 7-Eleven about 8-10 minutes away from the hotel. I highly recommend walking there for bottled water and assorted snacks. #2 The hotel is about 15-20 minutes away from the end of the night market. I happened to love the night market but you will quickly realize that almost everyone sells the same product. If a vendor isn't willing to accept your negotiated price, don't be afraid to walk away and find another vendor who will. I guarantee it will happen.

We booked this because of location. Basic hotel, little old. Breakfast good, lunch buffet excellent and cheap.
Rooms are clean but looks very old. Gym is terrible. Pool area clean but pool bar too expensive. Lots of older customers, over 50's. Overall, good to stay but rooms need little "face-up".

Really nice hotel with a good location. Very easy to walk to town center or catch a red car. Excellent veg fast food right outside as well. Decor a bit old fashioned but great service and high quality overall. Extremely clean and staff very accommodating. They made us custom options for breakfast as we are vegetarian.
