“Beware of taxi desk fraud”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2014

While the hotel has a friendly staff and a good location please never, ever accept services of the so called "Taxi" desk. Normal price by taxi to the airport is 200 Baht, however once you ask the taxi desk it will be 400-500 Baht. To add insult to injury - no one at the front desk starting with the front office manager will call you a taxi. You have to get it yourself on the street or ask the parking lot security to help you....

Hi
First of all, thank you for staying at our hotel during your recent trip to Chiang Mai together with your family and for your post here on Trip Advisor! We are pleased to read that our hotel has a friendly staff and that you liked our location. Our apologies about the "taxi and limousine" service desk misunderstanding. The sign is misleading and we have asked the tenant to have it changed to only
"limousine" service. All over the world, a limousine service is more expensive then the local taxis. In fact it was actually our bell boy who hailed a taxi from outside, as none of our cars was available. In our humble opinion, to call such an incident "a taxi desk fraud" is a bit far fetched.
Kind regards from The Imperial Mae Ping Team and Peter Schnyder - General Manager

Before leaving to Chiang Mai, i thought this choice of hotel would definitely disappoint me, but being there, it was all changed feelings. I loved my stay at this property. Room were good and nice mini bar, Area is calm and peacefull. There is night market some 200mts away towards left of the hotel. Indian restaurant, yes i mean Indian because Indian cannot live without a Dal and Roti, lol, Helpfull staff and i mean really helpfull. They 2 pools, a bar around the lobby, Nice gym though not fully equiped. Rooms are clean, Good In room dining Menu. A true Value for Money. Recommended to all.

We recently stayed here for 6 nights and felt it was really worth the price we paid. Worked out at less than £35 per night incl breakfast for 2.
We were picked up at the airport (charge) by the hotel . Very friendly driver in hotel uniform. Hotel only around 10 mins away.
We're impressed by the greeting of staff on arrival and the impressive lobby.
We were given the key to our room and escorted there by a member of staff. The first thing I did was check the bathroom as I'd read so many reviews on here re mould...and sure enough the mould was all around the seal of the bath and up the tiles. I rang reception and within 15 mins the showed us another room which was much better.
Yes the furniture in the room has seen better days but the comfort and the cleanliness more than made up for it.
Even though we were 8 floors up we could still here so much noise late at night from the car park below and the local bars. We asked to move to the back of the hotel overlooking the pool, which was granted, however it was still quite noisy. The windows are only single glazed .
The breakfast buffet was very nice but I was shocked and disappointed that the fruit juices were the powdered dilute stuff,so awful.
The pool area was lovely and very relaxing.
The location of this hotel was excellent. Close to all the main sights and the night bazaar started just at the end of the road.
There are a few laundry places right outside the entrance and it is very cheap .
Again transfer by hotel back to airport was fine although they charged extra to what the hotel had originally quoted as the lady on the taxi desk said it was 100 baht more as 6am was very early!
We never had any problems with mosquitoes at this hotel.

Dear Racing Queen
Thank you for choosing our hotel for your recent stay here in Chiang Mai and for your post on Trip Advisor! We do very much appreciate your detailed and well written comments. The hotel is doing a special cleaning exercise to get rid of the mould. Once a general renovation will happen, the hotel will definitely change all the windows to double glazed. We can assure you that our fruit juices on the breakfast buffet are certainly not from diluted powder. They are made from fruit concentrates.
We do look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel should you plan another trip to the North of Thailand.

This hotel was ok for the price, but it was really old and had a vagas type feel to it. I honestly was not impressed. Also the staff at check in was not friendly.

Considering we stayed at much better places in Chiang Mai on this trip for the same price, I would not recommend it.

Staff were really helpful and friendly. They even let us stay for 6 hours after the check out time to wait for our lift to the airport. The hotel itself was dingy and dated with mosquitoes everywhere and also in the bedroom. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. It is very central for shops and cafes / restaurants.

The Imperial offered a bit of luxury at the end of a more humble trip. Checking in, I knew I'd made the right choice when I was handed a cool drink for my short wait in line.

The helpful and polite staff give the impression of really wanting to help. My mind was blown when we returned from breakfast to find our room already serviced - just amazing!

And what a breakfast! Buffet style with a very broad range of choices spanning several versions of Western breakfast, local flavours, and even Chinese and Japanese dishes. Every day the choices are a little different. You can build the breakfast of your dreams here.

Our room was gorgeous and spacious. It's an older building but modern where it counts. Very comfy beds, elegant and convenient bathroom, it was tempting to stay in :D

The extremely high-ceiling in the lobby creates a very open feeling. Lovely flower arrangements, decor, and even beautiful live music mean you can even enjoy milling about. Staff around the entrance are also extremely helpful and friendly.

Only two swimming pools? I know right! Although I didn't get a chance to swim myself, they sure looked inviting. One is hidden on the second floor FYI.

There were spa services and restaurants inside that I can't comment on, but going by the general level of quality here I'd recommend that you investigate! I know there was also entertainment provided, but I was around the city and missed out.

The sheer number of facilities was a bit stunning - shipping business on the grounds just in case your souvenir buying gets out of hand (and it will if you visit the amazing markets or shopping districts in Chiang Mai).

Easily the best hotel experience I've ever had!

We booked this hotel online after researching, the price and location were very good. The room size is good, well maintained. Location is a 5 minute walk to night markets, close to local restaurants, a short tuk tuk ride to the old town, and a laundry across the road where the lady smiled to receive your dirty washing which she charged 40Baht/Kilo. Breakfast had a good selection of both hot and cold foods, the pool was good. The gym equipment was outdated, but overall hotel was excellent and in a fabulous location.
