We stay in the hotel four days 5-8/4/13.When we go to booking on the first day in the recreation, they ask a different price(and more expensive then agoda.com).
The staff in the reception allow us to connect the Internet and we booking online.
In our first two days we have in deluxe room, the room was huge, clean and good view. In our rest of days in this hotel we take the Royal suite. The room was amazing, big, two LCD and huge bathroom.
The hotel far away just 5-10 minute from the night bazaar and the walking street.

Room Tip: Checkout your neighbors,we sleep beside family with little children that cry early in the morning. A...

We've stayed 4 nights at this hotel. it's expensive for Chiang Mai and you can find better deals there. Anyway, the hotel is huge, with thousands of rooms and, of course, very busy. Which means crowded lifts, crowded pool (they have two), crowded lobby. The room itself is ok, a little bit tired and smelly, fridge is tiny (it's not possible to storage your own bottle), TV was old and image wasn't good and in my opinion there was more furniture than needed with less plugs and areas to organize your things than needed. Shower is awesome.
Gym is old and very hot, but one can manage to do some exercise there. The hotel has a lot of things, like massage and beauty parlor, but we didn't use them.
We didn't have breakfast, so can't comment on that. But we had lunch and the food was delicious and less expensive than I imagined.
Staff was allright, not exactly a smiling one but overall efficient.
it's a place with lots of chinese guests and also students (I guess canadians) who come back late at night drunk and screaming and wake up early also screaming. And, yes, the hotel doesn't do anything about it. Also, the place is clean, but the towels could have a nicer smell. The place is well located, about 15 minutes from old town (walking) and lots of 7/11 and restaurants around - and lots of pubs for men looking for sex tourism.
I didn't like the vibe of the hotel and I'm sure there are better options in the city.

Room Tip: Ask to be in a different level than the students.

Dear Alalas
Thank you for your stay at our hotel and taking your time to post here in Trip Advisor! Our hotel has not thousands of rooms - there are 371 rooms. We are fortunate that our hotel is well visited and we are welcoming guests from all over the world and from all sorts of sources. With the many hotels in Chiang Mai there are many opportunities to find more and less expensive hotels. We are sorry to learn that the students disturbed you - however in such cases the guests have the possibility to contact the night manager and ask for help. We thank you for your valuable comments and your stay. Kind regards from The Imperial Mae Ping Team - Peter Schnyder General Manager

From the moment we arrived we found the front desk elusive. That is unless you had bags to check in the front desk staff would simply ignore you. Why? Who knows. I waited patiently in the (please wait here) que, just me, four girls on the desk doing nothing. As I arrived they either ran off or tried to look busy hoping one of the others would attend. All I wanted was an internet password. The pool closes at 6pm so if you go on a day tour come back hot and sticky and feel like a cool dip, forget it. The beer garden doesn't open till after 6pm??? Getting the picture? Our room window was stuck open on arrival and we could not close it and by the look of the damage looked like many had tried. On a positive note the breakfast was good.
I don't think I'd stay there again sorry

Dear Rare Dingo
Thank you for taking your time to post here on Trip Advisor and for staying with us here in Chiang Mai! We have taken note of your comments about the front desk staff and are conducting training classes to improve their services. The Chang Garden (beer garden) opens actually at 5pm however due to the hot weather most guests prefer to go there after 6.30 pm when it has cooled down a bit. We do hope your window problem has been brought to the attention of our staff in order to fix once and forever. Kind regards from The Imperial Mae Ping Team - Peter Schnyder GM

The pool area is good and the poolside staff is very nice, the breakfast was excellent. But the staff in the reception putting long face during checking in and out as I know are too busy with the good business. But why Kastra the staff in reception ask me to go to her counter and wait for long time about 5 to 7 mins doing her own things without saying anything and scowl when I was asking her to check my flight time.
I booked a taxi at 16:45 in concierge. The other staff asked me to wait for the staff I booked from him to come back. I was waiting half an hour. I talk to the black suit guy, he asked another guy to pick up us the the airport, we left hotel at 17:17. Finally, I saw the staff I booked from was at the airport, his car was parked in front of us, Weird. Lucky ! We still catch the flight, if five more mins late we will miss the flight.
Overall, I really had a happy stay in your hotel. The pool and the breakfast is always in my mind. Thank you !

My sister, her husband and me stayed one night after a mix up with a reservation at a different hotel. We were impressed by the check in staff. We were allowed to check in early and check out late in our rooms of choice. The rooms are a little bit dated but extremely comfortable with a bath tub and very hot water great after a long journey. The buffet breakfast was well presented with a mixture of Thai and foreign food and filling enough for any body's day trips. I have visited Chiang Mai several times and this was my first stay at the Imperial however it will not be my last.

The hotel is well located, short walk away from Chiang Mai night bazaar and 15 minute drive to the airport. Hotel is mostly clean (rooms a little bit less than lobby), and there are mosquitoes in the lobby area and lobby bathroom. Food is great and offers variety. Elevators are quite small. Good free wifi and Internet connection in rooms. Staff is very nice. Overall, Imperial Mae Ping was definitely great value for your dollar spent!!!!

Stayed again at the Mae Ping (about the 6th time). The hotel is in a great location, central to all amenities, staff are very good, rooms clean, bed is large and excellent. The breakfast is very good and well worth adding to your travel costs.
The only two downside comments is
1. There is no vent in the bathroom/toilet.
2. Internet connection is slow and drops out.
We took friends with us to this hotel ( you always hope people enjoy your recommendations) and they too enjoyed their stay.....
Well done Imperial Mae Ping.
