“Great property though not the best location”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

The property is wonderful with great rooms, friendly staff, amazing breakfast spread and lovely view from the room. The only flip side of the property is the location - it is far off the city center and there are not many restaurants, cafes nearby. The hotel provides a shuttle to city center but the timings are off and not flexible. Hence the best way to manage is to take one of those shared Red Taxis or tuk tuks to the city center.

The hotel's overall good. It's by the side of a river - and so view when having breakfast at restaurant is fantastic. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were courteous and friendly. Drawback is location - it's a bit far from city center and there are hardly any restaurants or sights in vicinity. Overall its a good deal - but be prepared for travel to city center.

This is an old hotel with big comfortable rooms. Little out of the way if you want to go to the night market and down town. The breakfast spread is boring after staying for 4 days. Its routinely the same every morning. They need to give some variety change daily. Other than that I find this hotel to be good friendly staff, good relaxing atmosphere in the lounge. Hasnt tried the shuttle service.

This hotel is out in the sticks; fortunately, ChiangMai isn't so large that it's no more than a 10 minute TukTuk or cab ride into town (100 baht/$3 USD). Lobby is nice, people are wonderful, room is large with great bathroom, but... the carpet was worn and spotted, and would have been nice to be able to admire the view if the window had been clean.

The elevators were interesting... when in a rush, it literally took 8+ minutes for an elevator to finally show up for us (9th floor so we weren't quite into giving up and hiking down). But every other time the elevators came within a minute or two.

At first you're thinking you're totally isolated, with the main town more than a walk away, but if you check out the neighborhood, there's some amazing places to eat, basically street food with tables, just around the corner. My wife and I had our best meal in Thailand for 60 baht, total.

I would rather stay closer to town, but this isn't a bad choice. Especially since ChiangMai doesn't have public transportation to speak of, so you're going to be renting a tuk tuk or cab anyway.

Got my usual upgrade to a Ping Suite which has been updated with new carpets and laminate flooring. Rooms are huge. Staff are all polite and friendly. Used the hotel pick up service to collect and drop us off at the airport.
Big downside was the lack of sunbeds at the poolside. There are only TEN beds for a hotel this size. We managed to get one each morning after going to the gym but several people who wished to use the pool had to sit at the dining areas at the poolside due to the lack of beds. We watched several guests arrive at the pool and leave straight away after realising they could not lie down! There is more than enough space for at least 30 other beds around the pool area. The bar was not always manned so some people waited ages to order drinks and food. The actual food served was excellent.
My wife did take this up with someone at the Priority Club checkin desk, so we will have to see if things improve.
Overall though very good value for money and we will go back.

This hotel is very nicely decorated and has awesome views of the city. It was far enough away from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to take a Tuk Tuk almost anywhere for 100 baht.

The staff was extreamly friendly and helpful with anything we needed. We were on the second to top floor and highly recommend that.

There is a free shuttle daily and nightly to certain popular areas of Chiang Mai, but be sure to sign up for them in advance to grab a seat reservation.

there is a good coffee shop across the street and tons of street food to the right of the entrance and a 7/11 close by.

I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for something nice away from the crowds.

The hotel was perfect for what we wanted and our room was HUGE!!! It had its own lounge and dining room table! Yes the rooms are a bit old and there is a bit of a musky smell but it was great. We had breakfast included which was good. Wifi is free but doesn't always work in the rooms. It is fine in the reception however.

We always walked out of the hotel to find a tuk tuk or taxi as it was cheaper than hotel calling one. It is great location to the elephant camps and tiger kingdom. We hired a tuk tuk driver for the day for 500 bahts and he took us around each and waited for us. Such good value for money as the torus and trips are expensive and quite limiting! This was we got to go where we wanted when we wanted!!!
