Description: The River market is centrally located on the River Ping and overlooking the Iron Bridge. The Thai-Burmese Colonial inspired building was built with 95% recycled wood and using old traditional construction techniques. The high ceiling adds light and the roof structure was designed for the air to circulate and keep the building cool even on the hottest days. The modern Thai kitchens showcase the food and the talented chefs that prepare it. Everything is cooked fresh using the best ingredients available. To make it a prefect meal we offer a selection of great wines, beers and cocktails chosen to compliment our food. The River Market Restaurant started with the idea of serving great Thai food at reasonable prices using quality ingredients and as a destination for friends and families to get together and share. The portions at The River Market are substantial and the dining area and the tables are comfortably spread out for patrons to stretch out and enjoy. Prices are reasonable.

How fantastic to experience such amazing fine dinging experiences for such an inexpensive price tag. Food amazing. Atmosphere even more amazing. Only let down was my strawberry cocktail. Should have stuck to Mojito. Very reminiscent of the Sunshine Coast's Spirit House, but without the price tag. I had the beef salad and was more than satisfied. We shared the macadamia nut pie but was not so impressed. The curry roti rolls as a starter were excellent. Would go back in a heart beat.

We ate here twice in a 6 night stay in Chiang Mai plus popped in for cocktails one night en route back across the Iron Bridge to our hotel. Excellent food and drinks selection, good service and a lovely view out across the Ping river. A bit more expensive than restaurants in the immediate area but well worth it.

Over the years of visiting this city i've eaten in many places.. To date this must be my fav place to eat. Set in a renovated wooden building that has an interesting past, with grounds that slope down to the river. The food is more expensive than eating in street or road side cafes but still much cheaper than a meal at home in Australia or other countries i have visited. The menu is extensive, the food aromatic and very edible. Wine is good vintage and from good vineyards but not cheap. 645 bht for a bottle of house is the cheapest. but can be offset against the meal. We ate 4 mains - the ribs, slow cooked pork, garlic prawns, curried chicken in wraps, 2 rice, bottle of wine 2 beers ice cream and 2 cheesecake came to about 15 australian dollars a head.

We had a great meal here and the dish of our trip to Thailand! The setting is spectacular and the staff were attentive.

The mince/larb entree was absolutely amazing as was the macadamia pie for dessert.

Highly recommended!

We were only going to look around, as we thought it would be too expensive. Grounds are lovely, the ambiance pleasant and the food very good--and not unreasonably expensive after all.
