We visit Chiang Mai often and have eaten at the River Market for three years. Initially our experiences were mixed and often unimpressed. During the last four months we have dined at the River Market three times, more than often introducing friends to the restaurant because of the open, expansive dining area which is exposed to a wonderful view of the Ping River. I have seen a positive change in the food which begins with a more exciting menu that carries through to excellent execution by the kitchen. Now the River Market is a destination for fine food. A few of my recently acquired favorite dishes are the Grilled Beef Salad, Massaman Lamb curry (oh boy!) and the Tamarind Glazed Ribs. The restaurant is a 5-6 minute walk from the Night Bazar, right next to the Old Iron Bridge.
