“Great music but a bit patchy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

This place got many good reviews so I made a point of checking it out. The first night seemed to be jam night and it was a bit patchy. Some of the musicians were OK but some of thm were pretty bad. I thought I'd give it another chance and on the next night, the owner was playing and his band was much better. There were still people jamming but they could actually play! Overall, it seems quite good but you need to pick your night!

“One of the best blues experiences i've had”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013

As a dancer traveling the world listening to bands its so nice to sit in a warm open air bar listening to a fantastic blues band. Boy Blues Bar really offers this. Located upstairs in the markets you can hear the music everywhere.

This is really where blues is, just chilling out with some beers and a blues band. The band was really really good, second night they had guest trumpeter and sax which just make it better.

Would recommend having a beverage here anytime.

“We stumbled across these guys by chance...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

I was walking through the shopping area and heard some good blues music. I wasn't entirely sure whether it was live or recorded... but I was pretty sure it sounded live. I eventually realised the music was from a bar upstairs and went up to check it out. I spent the rest of the night in there, I was pleasantly surprised to see how talented the band was, the play the blues extremely well. The lead guitarist is fantastic, but would be nothing without his drummer or bass guitarist. Worth the visit.

“What a gem”

Great atmosphere and awesome live music. Covers of Hendrix and Marley along with some proper blues jams are refreshing in what seems an otherwise pop-heavy music scene.

“Good blues music in the heart of the night bazaar”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

It seems an unusual place to find a decent blues bar, tucked up in the eaves of the night bazaar, but Boy Blues Bar is a great place to chill out with a few beers and listen to blues music.
The bar is run by a very nice couple, Thai musician, Boy, and his wife from Kent,
6 days a week, Boy and his Blues Band play each evening from around 8pm to midnight.
They also have occasional guest musicians and jam nights.
At 100 BHT for a large bottle of Chang or Leo, beer is cheap and flows freely.
If you are in Chiang Mai, I would highly reccomend this place for an evening out.
