Great stay!

Review of Qi 68
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 23, 2012
Originally booked this place for one night, ended up staying for 4! Fantastic modern boutique b&b. I went based on some of the reviews on tripadvisor. Its an easy walk to the surrounding areas where you can also get a hair cut or do your laundry! The owners Kee and Karn were great hosts. They keep the place running and if you are lucky enough to join them on a week night for drinks, they are a fun bunch! Rooms are comfortable, being a light sleeper i didn't have any problems, thanks to the tilt slab walls and concrete floors. Highly recommended!

If it weren't for the location I would have given this place 4 stars. The atmosphere of the surrounding area is still not particularly welcoming, but if you walk to a main road [maybe 7 minutes] you can gain easy access to the city. A 10 minute walk will take you to the city wall on the north-west side. The two guys who seem to run this place keep a tight ship. The rooms were very nicely decorated with considerable charm, and impeccably clean. The communal living area as you come in to the residence doubles up as reception. The sound of soft, jazzy music often fills the air, and that area certainly has a good vibe. The complex is small but quaint. I didn't think it was worth the price I paid. I base that view on what else is available in that price range. I also have an issue with a place that charges 250 baht for an airport pick-up when most taxis will do it for between 120-150. Guests should at least be informed that our charge is 250 but you can get it for half price if you prefer. But overall this was a pleasant stay. i didn't have breakfast there.

We stayed in this trendy little hotel on the border of the touristic centre of ChangMai in july. This place deserves absolutely a 5-star review: The fantastic young owner and manager of the hotel makes you feel welcome and at home, the rooms are all very comfortable with great beds and every room is designed and furnished in a unique way. The rest of the hotel, especially the garden and the lobby, are also very nice. The breakfast deserves special mention: A big and wholesome English breakfast with hints of Thai cuisine. A good start if you have to spend a long day on a jungle trek. While the hotels and B&B`s in the old Chang Mai centre are mostly very old-fashioned, this hotel breaths the energy and creativity of a new generation of Thai hospitality. If we ever go back to Chang Mai, we will definitely return to QI Hotel.

We're unfortunately checking out today, but will certainly come back to stay whenever we're in Chiang Mai.

QI68 is a stylish, new, small hotel just outside the old city. It's comfortable (especially the bed) and quiet and the owner Khun Kee is incredibly friendly and attentive.

Highly recommended!

Room tip: the 4 rooms 'inside' with access to an inner garden are all as good as each other. I did not see the 2 rooms on the road

Qi 68 turned out to be just as beautiful and stylish as the pics on their homepage suggest, only much more so. I felt at home immediately and thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. Both the old city with its temples and markets and Nimmandhaemin Road area can easily be reached on foot in about 15 minutes. The hotel's bicycle option unfortunately didn't work for me because I was too tall for the bikes but had I not been just as happy to walk, I could have rented a motorbike from them. Owner and staff were always at hand with useful information and I thoroughly enjoyed Kee's breakfasts, which he wisked up in front of my eyes every morning. Qi 68 is the kind of place that you hesitate to recommend because you want it to remain the gem that it is and don't want it overrun by the hordes.
